Well tonight I started loading up my ammo for elk season and found some loose primers in my Nosler brass. It looks like the primer pocket expanded. Is this a known problem with this brass? I've never had problems with Winchester. I tried CCI/Federal with the same result, I also uniformed all the pockets since the depth wasn't consistent originally. This brass has only been fired twice and 14/50 have big primer pockets.

I'm not too happy right now especially since I paid almost double of winnie.

I am not sure what cartridge your loading, Norma does make some brass for nosler as do others. Norma brass is a bit soft when compared to lapua.

What cartridge and load are you shooting?

QL shows you to be over pressure, if only marginally. However, depending on the particular lots of components you used and your chamber dimensions, this could be significant.

Did you work up this load from a safe minimum? It is possible that you have a lot of bullets that are at the limits of calibre tolerance. It is also possible that your primer lot is somewhat hotter, upping pressure, and/or your powder lot is somewhat faster, which would generate higher pressures.

Whenever I encoiunter loose primer pockets, I do not assume it is the brass. Pressure has exceeded safe minimums for some reason.

As, Dr, Mike mentioned, QL suggests you are over pressure. Keep in mind, Nosler brass, on average, is thicker then most, so this will increase pressures further. Considering this, I'm not suprise you are experiencing loose primer pockets.

30-06 with 168 TTSX and 56.5 IMR 4340

The monometal bullets are a lttle higher pressure than the cup and core bullets. However I go up to 57.5 grains in my .30-06 with Partitions which are higher pressure bullets as well and even have used magnum primers in cold weather with no issue. My Your chamber must be a minimumm chamber rifle. Do you hava chronograph to check loads for sudden velocity spikes?
