Hello everyone – I am new to the forum and would like some advice from Nosler. I just received my first 2 boxes of Nosler brass today in .270 Win. This is factory new not factory 2nds brass. The brass looked very nice with the exception of a few slightly bent mouth cases which is no big deal. The think that concerned me is when I started to measured the case lengths; I noticed that the brass averaged length was around 2.528 some as low as 2.527. I know the trim length is listed at 2.530. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

A couple thousanths will make no difference, a piece of dust or brass chip under the case head could cause the little bit of deviation fron the target lenght. That is much tighter tolerance then most new brass I`ve measured. Enjoy!!
I`ve trimmed brass 0.005" under the books "trim to lgt" in a couple of cases that I know my brass stretches badly in, just to reduce the amount of time spent dinking with them. There is no more boring task then trimming IMHO. I hate it!!

Thanks Ol` Joe - I really did not think this was an issue. I had a lot of older brass on hand and did a fare amount of trimming last fall (one of the reason for new brass). I will start to load some up tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum.

That is actually very good to have that kind of varience.
The dented cases are from shipping and handling
I think you will find that if you just run the brass theough your sizing die, the case will square up nicely.

Let us know how your loads shoot. If you need any assistance, yoour friends here will be eager to help you out.

I measured my first Nosler brass, .280remington and found the same thing. Still shoots .60" and after 3 firings still does not need to be trimmed

How does the Nosler brass compare to stuff like Norma? I'm thinking Weatherby calibers here - I can get Remington 300Wby brass, but the case capacity is lower (and consequently velocity is lower) than Norma. Anybody shooting the 300Wby with Nosler brass?

I'd say +1 on the poor showing of Rem brass up against Weatherby(Norma manufactured) brass. I'd like to hear if anybody has used the NC brass in the 300 wby too since I only have about 34 Norma cases and 2 boxes of JUNK!!!

In the last 4or5 months I've been ordering Nosler 2nds. brass and bullets from Shooters Pro Shop and so far I have been pleased with the Nosler Items that I have ordered for my 7mm Mag. I've loaded up some 160 gr.PT. that I loaded straight from the bag and the total length of the cartridge checked out good. I've got some 150 gr. Nosler ballistic tips that I plan to load up later for me and my son. The 150's are 2nds. and they look as good as the box of new ones that I got. I like catching the sales that SPS has from time to time.
