We talk a lot here about Noslers fine hunting bullets - just thought I'd remind everyone about how well their Competition Bullets shoot too... Very easy to work up accurate loads for them, and the line is expanding. These 155 gr .30 cal bullets are my favorite for the .308 Win anymore. Am just doing informal target shooting over the winter, banging the gongs weekly at 300 - 820 yards at our gun club, and these things are flying true...

They're well designed, well built bullets that shoot very tight... As you'd expect from Nosler!

I've worked up several loads with the 168 grain Custom Competition bullets for the 300 WSM. They are easy to load and give some amazingly tight groups.

Nice looking bullets.
I used to load 308 cal 168 gr bullets for my 30-06 back in the 80's. They shot pretty good back then too.

They shot lights out in my old 22-250. I got some of the new 6mm 105gr to try in my new .243 but I think my 9.25" twist isn't steep enough for them.

I`ve been getting very small groups from my Win High Wall in 223 with the 52gr custom comp. So far I like `em!!

I have 500 rounds of the first batch of 168 grain that came with J-4 jacket. I weigh 10 of them and compared them with other match bullet that was in my inventories and the Nosler won hands down. Here was the result.

Match Bullet:

Overall winner: Nosler 308 J4 Competition 168 grain BT. Weight varies 1/10th of a grain. (168.2 - 168.3) Eight out of ten bullet have the same weight. 80% consistency.

No.2: Sierra 308 MK - 200 grain HPBT. Weight varies 2/10th of a grain. (200.4 - 200.6) Six out ten bullet have the same weight. 60% consistency.

No.3: Lapua Scenar 308 - 155 grain HPBT. Weight varies 2/10th of a grain. ( 154.6 - 154.8) Five bullet out of ten have the same weight. 50% consistency.

No.4: Hornady 224 Match - 53 grain HP. Weight varies 4/10th of a grain. (53.1 - 53.5). Four out of ten bullet have the same weight. 40% consistency.

No.5: Speer 7MM match - 145 grain HP. Weight varies 9/10th of a grain. (144.7 - 145.6) worst even when compared to hunting bullet.

Here's the ten shot group @ 110 yards from my 308 during load development with two 5 shot group with two different powder charge. The lone flyer was my fault.

That is a very fine group. Congratulations.

Thanks Dr Mike. 308 Winchester in a finely tuned rifle is capable of phenominal accuracy.

The .308 is an excellent cartridge. One could do worse for working with an accurate cartridge than to have a rifle chambered in .308. Likewise, one could do far worse than to have only one rifle chambered in .308. Ten rounds sub-MOA is worth working with.

I had a 7mm RM that would consistently put ten rounds into 0.9 inch. It is a continual sorrow to acknowledge that I sold it.

If you don't mind me asking, What was you load for these bullets and the seating depth? Thanks And great shooting!

Hi' Corbin,

I have to look at my data. I know it's less than .006 off the land. This particular load duplicates the Federal Gold Medal Factory Match. I use either the 168 Competition or the 155 Lapua Scenar in my 308. As much as I like the Nosler Comp, I prefered the Scenar for longrange work. It has better downrange performance especially on windy days. The accuracy is on par with the Nosler too. DF
