Nosler Partition Improvement?

Do not worry . Nolser will be covering all your needs sooner or later.

Have to admit, I'm sort of at a loss as to how?

My needs are already pretty dang well met.

I'm trying to work up a load for my 25/06 with the Nosler Partition.

My rifle favors the flat base bullets, 25/06, and due to wasting time trying to develop a load with the Ballistic Tips I was unable to develop a Partition load prior to my WY Antelope hunt. That forced me to use the 87 Grain Hornady SP bullet.

If Nosler changed the Partition I would have no Nosler bullets to shoot in my 25/06.

PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THE Partition!!!!

Ok, still new here but hot dang......three pages on this bullet?

Ill have to FLINCH through getting some for the 350JR....

Im MORE afraid Ill think I HAVE TO have them.....and I LIKE TO SHOOT LOL

Good Thread!

The PT is the one that I cant figure out where the high BC comes from though. Not any kind of expert but the BT sure LOOKS like it "should have" a higher BC.....??

God Bless

Its hard to explain...but there is a lot more to BC than just pointy tips and boattails...but to put it in a nutshell, if both ends of the bullet don't "fit and work together"...then its all for show.

Its as much about the ogive as anything...

Bullet designs are trade offs. If you design a boat tail bullet, you get an 8% (approx) improvement in BC but in order to make the weight and not have the bullet be too long, you have to find a place to put that material which you have displaced from the base which is the widest part of the bullets with the longest circumference (which affects how much weight is removed). So, you play games with decreasing the ogive radius in order to put back the removed material.

By decreasing ogive radii, you fatten up the tip and reduce Ballistic Coffecient. There is no magic in bullet design. If you take weight from one place to have to put it back somewhere else and keep the same caliber. There is no free lunch.

I had a girlfriend like that once. Her ogive must have been something as she was sleek with all the right curves. I would put her in the .600 category!

I cannot wait to get a big old buck with my 30-06 #1B (Fotis)using my 165 gr. Accubonds I loaded up. I hope to recover one, but man they penetrate.

David,

You might want to put one in an elk to catch one.

I was thinking that too Jim. Unless I shot him front to rear I probably won't get one for the photo pages. :)
