I started reading about the difference between G1 and G7 BC, and I'm starting to feel lost.

In the Nosler manual, are those "Universal Drop Tables" for G1, G7, or does it matter?

I think the G7 version really comes into play past 6 or 7 hundred yards (at least from what I can tell so far). So maybe it doesn't matter in those drop tables.

Shish… just when you thought you understood ballistics. :?

Keep it simple...

If you're using flat based bullets, use G1...as that is the drag model for flat based projectiles.

If you're using boattail bullet, use G7...as that is the drag model for boattail bullets.

Watch the video...it explains a lot.

In a nutshell, G1 is over 100 years out of date, unless you're shooting big lead chuncks out of a 45-70....in that case, it is still sate of the art.

The only way G1 can be accurate over distance with boattails is if its quoted in steps based on velocity, the way Sierra does it.
