noslers 95 B Tips in the 243 cal. ?

I like to ask what it the C.O.A.L. using the 95 grain BT in the 243 cal.
I did load up some the other day but I was not pleased with the way they shot on paper at the 100 yd target. I did use IMR 3031 35.0 grains
I think off the top of my head 2.685

3031 seems to be a bit fast for the .243 with 95grn bullets. Has this powder given you good results in the past? Just curious. That is one cartridge and bullet that I use IMR7828ssc and can't imagine being able to improve on it.

Welcome to the forum, glad you found us here.

The COL is dependent on your rifle, I would try to seat the bullet .015-.020" off the lands.
I agree that IMR3031 is pretty fast, I would suggest you try IMR4350. :wink:

I have had excellent results with sierra 85 grain HPBT bullet 35.9 grains
rifle will print a clover leaf group COAL 2.650.
I tried speer 105 grain with IMR 4831 was more like a shot gun pattern
I have some IMR 4350 wonder what grains I can try?
The nosler reloading form home page tech: from noslers on the web does not show 4350
I gave a noslers reloading away some years back anf info on how much 4350 I would appreicate.

I used 40.0 grains IMR 4350 at 2.722 COAL.
I tested a bullet and the single action will close on 2.775
2.722 will be shy abot 50 thou: or should I seat the bullet a little deeper?

I have had excellent results with 95gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips loaded with Hodgdon H-4350. This is a load I obtained from someone on this very forum, and it would shoot 5 shots at 100 yards from the bench into 1/2" or less with amazing regularity. That load averaged 3071 FPS from the 22" Ruger I had at the time. Bullet performance on the 5 Whitetails I shot with that bullet / load was super, with all being one shot kills.

As per the cartridge overall length I'd have to look it up but as has been stated that would be dependant on the individual Rifle, Chamber & Throat. If I remember right mine were seated .005" off the lands but again like I said I would have to look it up to be certain.

I said it before this barrel hates slow burning powder and the bullet needs a running start will not shoot well 20,30,40,50 thou off the lands.
Top group from the bench with IMR3031 2.650 that round a little low was more like my fault
I shot another 5 rounds with 40.0 IMR 4350 group shot high and open to 3"
The bottom group was the sierra 85 grain HPBT 35.9 grains of IMR 3031 they will group excellent but I did go to 2.725 they will print one hole with 2.650

If you don't mind me asking, what rifle and twist are you using for these loads?

I have a friend who had a slower twist 6mm that would not handle anything above about 85grs and the faster powders as well. The twist I think was 1-12 on his rifle. We got OK groups with the 95's but with the 70 - 85's it shot awesome.

Might simply be too slow a twist, for the longer bullets. Might try using one of the other 90'ish grain bullets which have a shorter length to see if it helps.

Most 1-10 twist rifles should easily shoot nice groups with the 95gr BT, in my experience.

I am shooting a Remington single shot SPR 18 barrel they has a 1 in 9 1/4" twist but it will keyhole 105 grain speer bullet
The gun is made in Russia hey this gun is like the old timex watch takes a licking and keeps on ticking
Gun has a hand forge spirel barrel shoots dam good trigger needs work I had 7 lb now it down to 3 1/4 lb
Light rifle I want it to be my rain gun

I've been working up a load for my daughters 243 with the 95gr BT and found that this particular rifle (Rem 700 SPS Youth) really likes RL22 with this bullet.

That little 95 gr Ballistic Tip is my favorite bullet from the 6mm. It has proven accurate and deadly on game as large as mule deer.

It's worked best for me with slower burning powder, like Reloader 22, but that's out of the 6mm Rem, a little different from the .243 Win.

I like to ask is this bullet have better results in boiler room hits and how well will it hold up if the front shoulder is hit?
I am pushing them around the 2850 mark FPS

47 gr of IMR7828 gives me 3250 fps and usually stellar accuracy.

I don't think it will get any better but I do think I went over the max: charge.
I was reading some info but can't seem to find it again on this load maybe someone can tell me if I am O.K.
