Was doing some internut research and stumbled onto this.... just had to have it... ordered it from Gallery of Guns and picked it up this morning.

It looks so innocent.... so docile..... So childlike....

IT'S A DEMON!!!!!!!!!!

This puppy is chambered for S&W 500.

It has a red fiber front sight and a dual green fiber rear sight.

Not sure if I'm gonna scope it yet......

But I forsee FUN!!!!!

Oh man! A Red Dot sight on that would be a sure way to put holes in your hog population! That looks like a very cool thumper!

Loaded up some test loads.....

Bullet: Hornady FTX 300 grains
Powder: H110..... 42 grains
Case: Hornday
Primer: Federal 210M

The bullet is one of Hornady's LeveRevolution Bullets.

Which makes me ponder..... if Hornady is going to the expense of building a bullet that was designed for a lever rifle..... is it possible that in the future will we see Marlin producing one?

NOW....that would be a riot!!!!

Bullet on left is a 700 grainer.... on the Right is a Federal Gold Medal Match 308.

Interesing to note..... the 700 grainer will chamber and action will close without resistence.

That would put the hurt on a hog. Slammin' ham with a 500 S&W; man, it won't get much better.

A buddy of mine is building a .500 Weatherby to shoot the .500 S&W bullets from a .460 Weatherby case. He already built a .500 A Square and it shoots 300gr Barnes originals 3500fps. His barrel just shipped today and his reamer shipped yesterday so it will be game on soon.

Mortis, those look too COOL! Man, give us a range report when you can! That 700 grain bullet looks pretty awesome!

Interesting......

Recently a friend of mine suggested something similiar. His comment was towards stretching the 500 case out...not that it can be done, just as an example.

So... wondering... is the neck of the 460 opened or is the case cut down and tapered to 500?

I was considering the 375 RUM case.... cut down at the shoulder.... taper formed. Trying not to stress the brass this way.

Any more information would be gladly accepted.

So, hows she shoot? Those single shots seem painful in the recoil dept. CL

I did a seperate post on it......but loaded with Hornady 300 FTX's it's less then a 300WinMag.

Yup Congrats.

I also use the plastic tips and have the 700 grains. I push the 700 at 1238 fps from my SW pistol.

You can use a .375 RUM case but you have to head space off of the case mouth like a pistol. A .460 is big enough where it still has a shoulder at .50 or .510 caliber unlike the RUM case. A .500 S&W is basically a .375 Ruger case with a rim. So you could easily build a stretched version off of that case. If you cut it off at the body shoulder junction it would be 2.18" long compared to the 1.625" of the .500 S&W. You'd probably gain 30-40% capacity.
