Partition versus Accubond

I am starting to reload for the first time tonight.

I think that the Partition bullets are a little bit better than the AccuBond for moose hunting with a 300 Win Mag. at 200-300 yards.

I bought a box of 180 gr Partition (50 $ Can) and 3 boxes of AccuBond 180 gr. (30 $ Can a box)

I would like to load some ammo for hunting with the Partitions but I will be developping my pet load with the Accubonds , because they are less expensive.

As far as seating depth, are these equivalent ... Is the ogive curvature the same. Can I swap bullets and keep the same seating depth...

And for powder load, can I keep the same load.

Thank

You have picked a very good caliber and bullet choice for what you plan to do.Either bullet will do the job just fine.As far as reloading them goes, there are some differences.First, you can load the same powder charge because they are the same weight, but point of impact will be different.Meaning you may sight in with the Accubonds but that is not where the Partitions will go.The only bullets that I know of that will do that is the Ballistic Tip and the AccuBond.I actually practice with the B-Tip and hunt with the AccuBond because of the price difference. Here is some info from Nosler on for your rifle and bullet choice: http://www.nosler.com/index.php?p=15&b=30cal&s=349

Hope this helps.

Mush,

Welcome to the forum.

The 300 Win Mag with either the 180 gr PT or AB will work great on Moose.
Try 75.0 grs RL22 and a Federal GM215M primer should get you to 3000 fps.
This laod with the 180 gr PT shoots well under MOA in 3 different rifles.
Pick the bullets that shoots best in your rifle and don't look back.
Remember to start low and work up.

If you can get the Partitions to shoot well enough I'd run with them (just my opinion). You have to consider worst case scenario (ie. extremely large bull moose at long range quartering away from you, running) It takes alot to bring them down under those circumstances. I feel the Partion will perform best and luckily for me......they shoot tight out of my gun.

I shoot a Sako m75SS 300WM with 180grain bullets. I first started to use the Partition Golds when they first came out and switched to Accubonds in 2004 - shooting Winchester Supreme Ammo.

Now I reload. As mentioned, about 75gr of RL22 with 180gr Accubonds.
My rifle loves 74.0grains. Great load/bullet for big game that I hunt in Alberta (elk/moose/WT/mukies/bears). Go with the Accubonds and you wil be very happy.
