People are losing their minds!

Let production catch up................................

Yes, just let production catch up then the law of supply and demand will take over and prices will drop again and there could be some real bargains since every body has spend most of their extra money on all this high priced marked up stuff. At least I hope my logic about all of this comes true, I sure wish it would.

I was troubleshooting over the phone today when I recieved a call from CCI needing a service call on a machine. I said yeah I'll send somebody out, how bout you sending me a brick of primers? the lady said "you and every body else buddy! we are getting calls from every one including law enforcment wanting to know where everything is. we cant make it fast enough!" so I guess they are trying and are also overwhelmed. What I wouldn't give to have schedualled myself on that service call! Had to send a guy from Vancouver Wa though. And when I called him he ask for a recommendation on what pistol to buy!

This is the arms bubble.
I say this with optimism... When the proposed ban fails, obama's approval ratings drop and we get a new congress the firearms market will return to normal. An AR-15 will go back to $750 and there will be alot of people that will feel ripped off.
This whole spike in prices is based on FEAR. Just like the stock market... people get fearfull of a company's health and they sell, sell, sell until the stock is dead. Right now everyone is taking thier money out of the market and investing in preciuos metals. In ten years metals will be at a record low and stocks will be high. It's all based on emotions and I realy hate this part..... so are elections. Obviously nobody realy thought through the consequences of electing obama based on factual information. I think the proper emotiocon for the obama election would be a character playing russian rulet with five bullets in the gun.

Canada will receive shipments after the states have been resupplied. Hodgdon has informed us that we are looking at a time of at least six weeks before resupply of powders from them (Powders are skinny here as well). Primer manufacturers are still taking orders, but making no promise on when they will be seen again in Canada. There are a couple of bricks of Remington 9.5 LR available at Chilcotin Guns in Williams Lake, but nothing in Alberta or in the north of this province. They will begin to flow again, just not immediately.

Does anyone remember that last big primer scare in the 90s? There were shortages at that time, and people felt a bit panicky, but eventually they began to appear on the shelves again.

I remember that one. If I remember correctly everyone was scared that bulk loose packed ammo was going away also. You couldn't find the little milk box of 22lr anywhere.

Well gun nut like us are definitely stimulating the economy!

I still have a bunch of primers from the 90's scare and I am glad that I still have them. I will always have a bunch of primers and powder etc. JUST IN CASE.

OK, say I'm crazy. I was down to my last 100 large rifle primers and started to look for some. I called every store that I used to go to and all they said was " the truck gets here on ____ day good luck." This made me some what nervous. I found some but had to drive a little more than before, same price. Problem is I bought a few more than normal, so what's the shelf live on primers and best way to store them? And would I die if I used my food saver to vac pack the box? I'm not crazy but, sometimes my dog say's I am.

never thought about vac packing them. I had some for about 12 years now, and they are still workin fine!

The fly in the buttemilk is that: Yes the manufactures will catch up and the prices drop but the long term goals of this administration is to disarm the public as they buy private industry. No country has become socialist without disarming the populace. So, what does that mean? when the supply meets demand buy what you think you'll need for the rest of however long we might be able to hunt and shoot. Primers that are vacuum sealed should last 20 years. I'm still using primers I bought in 1985 when I had an FFL. I bought more when Clinton came in but he really didn't care about guns much. He just satisfied the Sarah Brady contributers with his assault weapon ban. I wouldn't buy into the expensive prices beyond what you need to get by till fall or so. To tell the truth Federal 215 primers have been scarce since the Afghanistan/Iraq war started. (Supply and Demand).
Maybe the administration will overplay their hand enough to loose control. "Nothing is new under the sun"
Good Hunting

In regards to prices, don't look at what those idiots are paying on Gun Broker. The last time I bought primers from MidwayUSA, GM210M, I bought 3 boxes (3000) for 36-37 bucks. Add in shipping and the 22.50 hazmat fee, it comes out to about 45-50 a box. 36-37 is pretty much the same price I would've paid at Sportsman's Warehouse in Idaho last fall, I just suck up the shipping and haz mat fees as something I have to deal with for the time being.

So I don't think prices have go up all that much, it's just that there isn't any out there to buy, at least in the Fed GM2--M brand.

Damn,
I paid 24.00 a case for fed primers 6 months ago, localy!

I picked up 5000 Winchester and 5000 Federal 210 GMM this Sunday. Winchesters were $23.99 per thousand and the Federals were $32.99. I have some buddies that need some so they get a shot at these

I checked Midway for primers. The only thing they have is a few muzzle loading primers. They are all out of everthing else, no back orders.

My buddy called Federal today and asked about the primer shortage. They told him that he was the 200th shooter to call today and inquire about primers.

In a nut shell, they claim that they are manufacturing primers 24/7. They attribute the shortage at the retail level to "HOARDING" by reloaders.

I won't be shooting much longer if something doesn't break soon. I never thought I'd see the day that we couldn't get components.

Whenever I get a surplus of primers, I vacuum seal all but 2-300. Leave extra length on the bag so if you need to open it up, you can reseal the bag. I also vacuum seal extra bottles of powder.

I was at the Orlando gun show Sunday, and paid $35 /k for Federal Large Pistol Magnum, and $40/k for CCI Large Rifle Match. Not many left, either.

Well, I can tell you that if MidwayUSA get more GM210M in, I won't be "hoarding" them. I have enough to last me a very long time.

OH, by the way, if you use the "Remind Me" feature on MidwayUSA products, they will send an message to your listed e-mail address. It's a first come first get situation.

Just stopped by my friends shop. He had lots of GM210s, CCI-200/250. Heck he had lots of primers period. Guess the fever hasn't hit here yet.
