plastic fouling

Just got back from a session at the range with my TC Omega .45. Shot a number of 4-shot groups with triple-7 FFFg. As usual my groups were nice and tight about 1 inch to 1.25 inches. After the 5th group, it opened up to about 2 inches. I figured it was dirty so I quit shooting it. When I got home I discovered a lot of plastic fouling about 3-4 inches ahead of the breech plug. This fouling looks alot like the plastic build up in the choke tubes of my sporting clay shotgun after 300 rounds. What is a good muzzle loader cleaning product that will take this out? Do I need a muzzle loading product or can I just use the shooters choice that I use on my sporting clay gun? I have never put a petroleum product in a muzzle loader, is this smart or just BS put out by those who want to sell specialty muzzleloader cleaners???

375hh1973,

Good question. I have used T/C Bore Butter in my M700ML 50 cal from the beginnning and have not noticed and sabot cup fouling. Having said that, I also haven't shot it that much either, maybe 250-300 shots total.
If the fouling is really bad, try the MC#7 and then you will have to reseason your bore.

I bought a T/C Omega and put an old Vari X III 2.5-8 on it for some 200 yd hunting I will have this year. Again, using the T/C Bore Butter.
So far, my 700 50 cal shoots better!
