For those who own one, what would you say is the utmost extreme range I can shoot this to?

Setup: Montana 1999, 24" barrel, Zeiss 3-9x40mm, shooting Federal 140grn Fusions. Average temp down here is in the 80's.

My thinking is, since it is based on the 308, and they are shot out to 1000yds, wouldnt the 7mm-08 be able to do it easier because its a 7mm and has a higher BC?

If the question relates to putting the bullet on paper, 1000 yards is eminently doable. If the question relates to energy delivered to game, the answer is less clear--it would relate to the game, the bullet and perhaps other aspects. I have watched black bears shot at 800 yards with a .308. It was not something that I'm comfortable with, but a .308 can kill at that distance. Similarly, there is no question but that a 7mm-08 at that distance can kill game. Again, I would pass. Paper? No doubt the cartridge will deliver accuracy at that distance.
