Good day all,
I may be having issues with soft strikes caused by a weak spring. I have a thread going in the reloading section after noticing some soft strikes on new brass and also, noticing from Google research that this is not a new problem for some post 2008 production Model 70's. After much internet research have come to the conclusion I am not the first. I really would like to replace with a quality spring and harder strike.

From what I am seeing, the Wolff springs do not fit the post-2008 production model 70's. I was looking at the David Tubb 2 piece spring and I cannot get confirmation if it is compatible. I have emailed them and also tried phoning, but they have not replied, and the phone cannot connect to them ("your call cannot be completed as dialled"). I am out of country and so I wonder if they filter out anyone not in the US?

I could likely source another Winchester spring, but my hours of Google searching revealed that some just buy the new spring to cause the same problem.

Does anyone have experience with them, or, can you suggest a spring maker that can replace mine, if I have to replace it?

I did a quick search and found you a few links . I'm not sure if these springs fit the FN's , so check it out before you buy . you should be able to get phone numbers for these vendors , off there website .

here is a thread on this problem .

Really appreciate your input, thank you!

Wolff is a no fit. Pre-2008 only.
Tubb..I can't get in touch with them...I am out of country so they obviously have an international call filter for the phone. They have not replied to my email. I have a relative in the lower 48 who will likely have to make the call for me to see if it fits.

I tried Midwest yesterday but it was too late annd will try again today. On it today...try the others

That last forum link you sent, so funy...I found the same guy who modified his Remington spring!! But he never followed up to say how it turned out. I like the link you sent me because this guy...this guy actually followed up with his success. I might have to consider this, plus, there even was a person on that thread who took a Wolff sping and cut it. I think we are on to something.

Very interesting looking through an assortment of older internet discussions; there are some detailed findings on this problem. It seems half are finding deficiencies with bolt/pin/spring manufacturing, and the other half, the spring was simply too weak. I am hoping that the latter is my issue and keep it simple. Disassembly of my bolt and inspection under magnification, I don't see any deficiencies or spots where there is binding/rubbing. Bolt is not spotlessly clean and I didn't grease it. I lightly lubed it with silicone...maybe I should use graphite instead?

Thanks for yor help.
