I try to get down to Texas every year or every other year to do some hunting at night with a good friend.
Last year, was my first time to be able to use a specialty pistol (center-grip 6mm Creedmoor) at night for critters.
Critters = hogs, coyotes, fox, and bobcat.
This time I will be taking a rear grip specialty pistol, chambered in 22 Creedmoor. It has a 15.9 inch Krieger 8-twist barrel, that is now suppressed.
This gun shoots exceptionally well with the 80 grain Hornady ELDM at 3050 ft./s.
I was curious how it would shoot with the suppressor on it, and from a cold bore.
I had four shots at 100 yards at under 1/2 inch…That’s my guess, and I’m sticking to that.
Definitely good enough for critters out to about 250 yards, and more likely at 150 yards and under. My thermal does have a rangefinder in it, so I can be sure about my distance if needed.
You will see the small group in the small upper right diamond of the target.
I just took a quick picture through the scope, and it’s not a good picture but you can see it.
I wasn’t worried about point of impact, because I was going to takeoff my day scope and replace it with the thermal optic.
I have not zeroed the thermal optic yet.
We will be shooting from standing positions off of tripods. My friend will be using a bolt action rifle or an AR platform.
