I have a tikka t3x 270 win wanting to shoot 140 AB, have R19 that I've always had awesome luck getting to group. If someone could run a QL for the following 270 win tikka, 140 AB, and R19 and possibly R26. Wanting to try it. Thanks
Randy

That's a guess on the burn rate on RL26, but should be in the ballpark.

Thanks Dwh7271! Another question for you all! Should I chase a little more speed? I have a load worked up with R19 that both times shooting it has printed 1/2" and 5/8" groups. I do not have a chronograph, but thinking it's around 2900 fps. 54.5 grs of R19. It just flat shoots well. I would love to get around 2975-3000 fps but I know speed doesn't matter. I also want accuracy and this tikka likes 54.5 of R19. I stopped there when shot accurately. , but I know the O'l 270 can get some more velocity. What's your thoughts?? thanks for all the help and advice (y)

I always opt for accuracy over velocity. Consequently, many of my favourite loads are below maximum charge simply because they give the best accuracy.

I'm with the good Doc here. You could chase speed but I'd be in the end you won't get too terribly far and if you are getting groups like that with 140 Accubonds, there isn't much left to want.

I do chase velocity , if it falls in line with accuracy . I won't give up accuracy for speed , but I'll keep working higher powder charges to see if I can get both to come together at a higher node . if I were you , I'd have to try to speed it up a little . this would be my off season project . it looks like RL26 will be able to get close to 3200FPS . keep in mind " a slow hit is way better than a fast miss "

I do have RL26 in my quickload .

Good point Jim. 26 is REALLY good in my 270 and 7mm WSM's. Fast and very accurate.

I modified the burn on the RL26 when I ran it.
The .339 in QL is nowhere near experienced burn, at least in the four I ran it in fwiw.
It's a really good powder and versatile but the QL burn is off.

Dewey is talking from experience , and this can't be argued with . I have a can of RL26 , but I haven't played much with it . so , as always when reloading , start low and work up while watching for pressure .
