DR Mike,
If you wouldn't mind running an update with some of my velocity figures so I can get an good pressure figure I would really appreciate that?

Re 16
53 gr gives me an average of 2709
ES of 24
Accuracy isn't the best.. definitely MOD (minute of deer), but my cold bore first shot is consistent at about 2.25 high at 100..
Thanks again

Running a tad late. Hunting from sunup to sundown on Saturday. Sunday is somewhat busy for me. Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. Now, just chillin' with my good lady after a leisurely drive through my AO to look at moose and deer. Just getting home. However, here's some data to mull over.

So if my load of 53 gr of RE16 give an average velocity of 2709, would it be safe to assume that my pressure is around 50k? That is what the chart shows. 53gr definitely fills the case up, but there is a little room for maybe 1gr more. Although I am quite pleased with the results of 53.
I don't think my 91 really gets ahold of the .311 diameter bullets as well as the .312's. Hornady has the 174 gr RN in .312, but I want a more ballistic type bullet. I did see the Woodleigh 174 gr protected points at .312 dia, just not sure about driving them as hard as I do the Sierra's.. Dang it Nosler, I would sure like a 180gr AccuBond or PT in .312 diameter.  I have also tried the Hornady and Sierra 174gr HPBT's and at 100 yds I can't hit the paper.. just don't get why it don't like boattails.. Matter of fact the Sierra's were keyholing the target at 25 yds, the Hornady's were at least going thru in the right direction. Oh well, I am rambling..
Take care
Ed

That would be a fair assumption.

Under ~400-450 yards, a flat base bullet gives up little to a boattail in terms of velocity and/or drop. Beyond that distance, the boattail has a distinct advantage. There is no question in my mind that it is easier to get an accurate load with a flat base bullet as there are less curves to factor into the equation.
