Good morning, I was wondering if the barnes 208 LRX is available in QL yet and if so would someone mind running a couple different things through for me. Not really sure what the table is called but the one where gives you the table of approximate max charge for different powders.
I’m starting to plan a new hunting rifle build and I’ve been listening to the Backcountry Hunting Podcast and if anyone else listens or has listened he is a big fan of the 280AI as it gives near mag performance with less powder/recoil and in most platforms will hold 4-5 rounds. Being a 30cal guy, I got to thinking that all of that really applies to the 30-06AI, not that the vanilla 30-06 really needs much improvement. From looking at some of the other threads running the 30-06 to 63-64k pressure and others discussing 200gr loads I eventually got to looking at/being curious about how would the 208 LRX do in the 06/06AI especially in a rifle with a long throat and extended mag to minimize how much the bullet cuts powder capacity. Then I started wondering if life wouldn’t just be easier to build a 300wsm.
So if someone doesn’t mind running the data I am looking to see what the recommended powders are for the following:
30-06AI - bullet: 208LRX COAL: 3.7 and pressure: 64k
300wsm - bullet 208LRX COAL: 3.34 and pressure 64k.
From my back of the napkin math I’m guessing that the 06AI would be somewhere around 2700 and the 300wsm 2800+.
Thanks for your assistance in advance.
Matt
