I am just about out of Rl 17. I’ll need to substitute something near the burn rate, I guess.
I have both H 4350 and Stabull 6.5
I’m getting 2970 with a standard deviation of 8 pushing a 140 Ballistic Tip COAL of 3.040
I’m getting Just a touch faster with an AccuBond Also loaded to 3.040
49 grains of Rl 17/ Ruger #1.
Thanks in advance
Oh and I saw these guys in my pasture this morning; No I did not draw a tag for mule deer again.

At 49.0 grains, you're a little over maximum pressure for SAAMI parameters. On the other hand, I understand that the standards were set low for any of the older rifles still in cirulation.

Code:
Cartridge : 7 x 57 mm Mauser (SAAMI)
Bullet : .284, 140, Nosler BalTip 28140
Useable Case Capaci: 52.810 grain H2O = 3.429 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.071 inch = 78.00 mm
Barrel Length : 24.0 inch = 609.6 mm
Powder : Alliant Reloder-17 *T

Thank you Dr. Mike. I have a little Rl26, Kind of saving that for the 338 Jarrett. I may be forced down that road however.

I have not, dont’ know anything about that powder.
It’s quickly becoming my favorite powder. It’s right in between 4350 and 483, meters well, and produces pretty good velocity with less powder used vs 4350

I have not tried Hunter but the numbers look good. I’m trying not to take on too many new to me powders, hoping something happens and we start seeing Rl 26; and 17 again. I need to stop the load development process and just position shoot, hunting season is five weeks out, Antelope in Wyoming.
Made it out yesterday with some of the loads from Dr. Mikes printouts for the 275 Rigby, rapidly becoming my favorite rifle.
Rl 16, gave decent accuracy;
48. Rl 16
140 BT. @ 3.045
2840 fps SD 10/five rounds measured.
Accuracy is essentially the same as the Rl 17 but a 100 fps slower.
Rl 26 was Very good.
50.6 showed as max load however I could only get 55.0 grains in the case. Could have just filled the case to the rim with out weighing, they were that full!
definitely a compressed load:)
140 BT.
3.045 coal
2921 with an SD 9.0
with the number 1 I generally stick with three shot groups. It’s just not a bench rest rifle and any little mistake in technique is amplified.
I checked after three shots and the other guys at the range said I started making funny noises. I pulled number four and called it without looking. I’ll take the three shot group any day.

Looking good! Yeah, I can see how one would enjoy the Rigby. Just the historical significance would make the rifle feel good in your hands.

Looking good Don. That rifle will be great for WY Antelope.

I hope RL17 and 26 begin showing up myself. I have started using Hunter a bit more and it's seeminly just a tick slower in FPS than 17 so it's in a good spot.

That rifle is shooting though. Even the 140 at 2840 ain't exactly a slow poke. Seems like you have some options.
