Quick range run.

I took one shot with the .338. I shot at the bottom of a one gallon milk jug filled with water at 186 yards with the scope on 3x. I was able to hit it and make some water fly. Rain was coming so I put it away and got the 22-250 out. This is the first time shooting since I got a new lot of IMR4064. Past shooting showed 36.0 grains as the winner but today, 35.9 shot .525 while 36.0 shot .631. I am going to play with the seating depth and 35.9 grains.

Out of my AR15 with the 4x scope I shot a 1.309" group with 21.5 grains H335 and 77 gr Nosler HPBT bullets.

21.0gr=1.196
21.5gr=1.309
22.0=1.371
22.5=1.668

I want to mess with the OAL on this rifle also.

I zeroed in the 6.5 Grendel after sending the Vortex out. I did have some issues with my rounds going off. I would fire and nothing would happen. After a few tries, the round would go off. Thinking it was the rifle, I fired some fire forming rounds and they went off like they should. I did get all 9 rounds to fire but 4 or 5 of them had to be reshot. My first thought is primers, but they are from the same box of that all my other rounds have been made from. I am wondering if my hammer spring in the AR is getting a little weak. It is an after market spring used to lighten trigger pull. I will keep an eye on it and replace it if need be.

I did not shoot the best groups due to all the issues.

Check your buffer spring. That's what I order the other day as mine in .223 is doing the same. After I replace my first buffer detent spring shot like 3 rounds and doing the same thing. When I put it together before I went out the buffer spring seemed very easy to compress and put together. When I had it apart to put my MagPul ambi sling swivel on it was much stiffer. I will know in a few days and let you know when I get my parts if it solves my problem.

I took every thing apart and it needs to be cleaned. I have a JP spring kit in the rifle and am wondering if the spring is gettting weak. My buffer spring feels as stiff or stiffer than the one in my .223 AR.

Is the bolt completely in battery? That could be another problem causing failure to fire.

I believe it was. I was pushing the forward assist before shooting. After every misfire, I would look at the primer and a few of them had small strike marks while others had no marks on the primers.

I think I found my problem. I need to bump the shoulders back a little so that the bolt closes 100%. I just ran some empty brass and had a few that stuck really hard in the chamber. I had to bump the butt of the gun on the ground to and pull the charge handle back to get the brass out. I guess I need to resize my brass before I reload my next batch.
