Quick Range Trip

Made a quick trip to the range this afternoon. I had a couple of rifle to work on for the shop. Problems, so they didn't take long to shoot and take back to the shop. While there, however, I did shoot a couple of sets of loads I worked up on Noah's 260 Remington. My first effort with the 140 grain PT and H4831SC didn't produce the results I wanted, so I will need to review that before it makes it into the field. On the other hand, I worked up a load with 140 grain Swift A-Frames and RL22 that is giving pretty good promise. I'll look at it a little closer as the season progresses.

I pulled out my 9.3X64 to see if it is ready to hunt. All I've taken with this rifle so far is one smallish whitetail buck last winter. I'm hoping it can be used on something larger this fall. I'm slinging 250 grain AB at the present time. This is what that load does.

It's as good as I remembered. I would guess that this will accompany me on the next outing.

The 9.3 looks fantastic, go with that one and don't change a thing. !!!!!!

I believe it will accompany me tomorrow. It needs to draw a little blood.

Very nice Mike. Seems like RL22 and that 140 Swift are moose capable.

Your big 9.3 has been awesome since you have unveiled it. I imagine those 250 ABs should do the trick on moose too!

I have noticed that the 250 AB's for my 9.3mm are about the same BC and SD as the 260 grain bullets for the .375 Ouch & Ouch. They are only .009 " smaller than the .375 and should satisfyingly put the hurt on any moose or elk that you may run into. Good luck DrMike!

Well, the temperature co-operated. It was around 5 C (41 F) when we left home at 0400. Higher up, the temperature had dropped to 2 C (36 F). We hunted hard, but the big critters didn't co-operate. We cut quite a bit of sign for bear and moose, but nothing that was sufficiently fresh to get the blood rushing. We'll give it another try this evening or tomorrow. Noah was pretty bagged by the time we ceased at 0900. I suspect that he will be due for a rest shortly.

The 260 and A-frames are looking pretty sharp to me. From what I've seen from Noah's shooting he will put that nice MOA group to good use on a moose.

I don't know Mike. That flyer with the 9.3 has me a little concerned  Great shooting as per always.

Bill

I did drift the windage to the right. Yeah, those flyers are problematic.

Oh, OK.....I see how you are.......rubbing it in our face that you get to go hunting already, and us guys down South have to wait a while still. Shame on you.

Good Luck and keep us posted! It's all jealousy from here!

Oh, but when you get to continue your hunt throughout the winter months and take multiple head of game. Payback is a... It will be my turn to be jealous come winter.

DrMike, that 9.3 is locked right in I sure hope you get to pull the trigger on that two old Bull with your name on it!
Keep us posted please :)!

Blessings,
Dan

The 260 load looks very promising. I am guessing you will achieve sub-moa with the next range trip.

The 9.3 is just awesome. That is a great load you developed for it. Good shooting too!
