So I bought some 90 gr. Nosler BSB bullets to try in the .270 Win. Would one of you be willing to run some quickload for h4831, varget, and h4895?

Thats what I have in stock. Any other powder suggestions that might work better? Thank you!

That particular bullet is not in the data set at this time. Ergo, it isn't possible to run it. I'm sure we could run an approximation, but it would only be an approximation.

Yeah I have not been able to find anything on it. Would it be time consuming to do an approximation? Im just looking for a couple starting points to start working up with. There is a guy testing them in the bullet test forum. I will try asking him his starting point and powder of choice. Thanks!

Those powders look great. Here is what QL shows for that bullet with your available powders.

Well, I'm bummed out, Scotty. My data set is lacking that Bonded Performance bullet. I'm going to have to look into this.

Mike, have you tried refreshing your bullet file for .277" bullets. I'd bet a moose burger it'll probably pop in there if you search for bullets again!

Here is what happened. I bought my update disc in January and there was another update released in March. It added several powders (none of which are marketed in North America) and at least the Bonded Performance 277 Nosler. So, I'm hooped on this as I don't want to buy another update this soon just for this. Grumble, grumble, grumble.

Dang! That stinks buddy! I must've gotten real lucky as I bought mine right around that timeframe as well. Better to be lucky than good somedays.

That is true! Okay, so I won't use the Swiss powder or shoot a 90 grain BSB in my 270 WSM. Of course, I wonder what what else I may be missing.

HA! Yeah, I would imagine you've got all you need.

Do you see any of those other powders up your way Mike? Rottweil or Swiss or any of the others!

I have a few cans of Rottweil R905, but it is not common at all today. In fact, I haven't seen any for at least seven years. The powder I have is slowly parceled out; it is very similar to RL22 (so similar that it can be substituted). I have not seen any of the ReloadSwiss or NitroChemie. I'm told that ATK plans to market some of the Swiss powder, but I have no further intel on that to share.

Gotcha, never thought about it until this. I wasn't sure if you saw powders we do not see down here.

Most of our powders are imported from the States. Though they are manufactured in Australia, Belgium, Sweden or Finland, almost all pass through the USA before being re-exported into Canada. I believe the Vhita Vuori powders are an exception. Even IMR, which is now a Canadian firm, is shipped to the USA before reimporting into Canada. Go figure!

HA! Didn't know that. Pretty interesting stuff.

Speaking of powder, when is that powder container named the 358 Norma going to be ready to shoot Mike?

Looking at a mid-July date now. There was some delay. Consequently, Gerry beat me to the draw on this one. If mine shoots near as good as his is shooting, I'll be a happy camper.

Yeah, I believe your going to like it alot Mike. I love the Newton. I am resisting shooting mine a bunch till I get the new scope set up on it, but I do really enjoy the rifle alot.

Found this while digging around for the Mashburn stuff last night.

I did see that in my Ackley book. That Newton has a lot of cool factor--a lot of cool. If there had been a reamer in the area so I didn't have to pay for one, I might well have moved that direction. I know, cheap of me.

HA! That's alright. I know your going to really like the Norma though.
