I think it will treat you pretty good. I’ll be kinda surprised if you come back with a bunch of complaints. It’s probably been tested out the wazoo.

I found a current burn chart at Hodgdon, it shows grand one spot slower than H1000 and two slots faster than Retumbo. I also got the powder today so off I go.

You may notice RS Magnum isn’t on the new burn chart.
I have 13 pounds of Magnum so will be good for awhile if it is going to be discontinued.

I don’t use Magnum but I’m sure many will be bummed if it gets the axe. On the up side the new addition is temp stable with the CFE additive. Well it really only has one competitor, as RL26 is non-existent so that leaves H1000. Haven’t tried the HD I have but have heard good things. I’m sure Grand will perform just as well.
with more powder being scarce or out of production i almost wish i didn't have as many guns that use the same powder (especially the 70-100grs of powder). 570 is the only 1 so far that gives me some relief. having magnum, retumbo, 7828ssc, imr4831, magpro, lrt and h1k on hand for a while until i have time to finish some builds and start load work. not too mention having primers for large and magnum rifle. bad thing is i'll burn thru many just to get where it's needed.

I got to the range this morning with some 270 Win loaded with Grand powder. I fired a short string of 150 Nosler Partitions to see if it has potential. I did not have any data for the Partition so I started with the data for a Hornady bullet. My first shot was with my tried load 58.5 grs of 7828 and 150 Part. It Graphed at 2975 fps.
60.0 grs. 2822 fps
60.5 grs. 2825 fps
61.0 grs. 2877 fps
61.5 grs 2907 fps
62.0 grs. 2930 fps.
Hodgdon showed 61.6 grs for a max load with a Hornady bullet at 2940 fps and 60800 psi.
These loads showed no pressure signs. I'm going to go up .2 grs at a time at the next session to see where it goes. This powder doesn't seem to create as much muzzle blast as 7828 and it burns much cleaner. My amigo wanted to shoot across my chrono this morning to get velocity readings to plug into his new computerized scope so I didn't get to my 7mm Mag loads. Man it got hot quick.
