Took the 6 BRA out to 1100 this evening to get a verified dope chart for the upcoming LR steel match in John Day this coming Saturday.

Cracked open my new jug of H4895 and just loaded em up at 30.2g with the 108g ELDM. No time for load development with it. I replaced the Hellfire brake with a new APA gen 3 little bastard also, so needed to rezero. Fired a 3 shot group into 3/8" at 100 yards in the bull. With the new lot of H4895 I was at 2875fps at 30.2g. With the old lot I was at 30.3 at 2850fps. So gained around 35fps or so from the new lot.

Winds were 5-10 mph coming from about 10 o clock. Shot from 300-1100 every 100 yards. Got 1st round hits out to 1K. 1st shot at 1100 was just under the plate. Came up 1 click and put the 2nd on the bottom of the plate. Came up 1 more click and put the next 4 on the upper plate.

Was shooting prone with a MDT bipod and Armageddon rear bag.

The MPA chassy felt pretty good from the prone position. I was pretty happy with the way it went. We'll see what happens this coming Saturday!

Thanks to @jmad_81 for being a great spotter!

Ended up taking 5th. Was not my greatest day of shooting and for some odd reason, I was shooting over the top and to the right of everything. But, it's a new rifle, and I haven't spent a lot of time with it at LR yet. Only thing I can think of is my zero was a little high and right. Which is odd because last week it was dead nuts. Pretty frustrating. Oh well, still better than a day at work and got to shoot with some great people at a nice range. Better luck next time!

Nice shooting Jory. I'm still waiting for my 6 BRA, its in the build process. Have you tried Varget? I'm curious since I have two jugs on hand in case in comes. Have you tried the 105 Bergers yet? Currently using the 6 BR / Varget / 105 VLD in the 2850 fps range.
Do you just fire form 6 BR Lapua brass to 6 BRA or do you use the other brand makers that have made 6 BRA brass already?

No I haven't tried Varget, and honestly probably won't. I know it's one of the better powders in a BR/BRA, but I just don't care for it honestly. It burns super dirty. I'd rather shoot H4895 which is what I'm shooting. H4895 is also one of the better powders in a BR/BRA and I have a new jug of it to get through.

The only bullet I've tried so far is the 108 ELDM. Not sure if this barrel really cares for it or not, as it's not shooting dots like a BR/BRA should, or if my barrel is just nearing its end. No idea on the round count as I'm the 3rd owner of it. I'd say it's at least 2K to maybe 2500

I'm gonna put another 500-1K rounds through it with the 108 ELDMs and learn the cartridge a bit more. Than I'm going to rebarrel it with a new 28" Krieger 7.5 twist and try a few different bullets. I've got the 108 ELDMs, 107 SMKs, 105 Hybrids, and Barts 103g Daggers. Just don't want to waste them on this barrel.

I am shooting Lapua brass. It has more capacity than Peterson and Alpha. Plus the necks aren't as thick so I don't have to turn them in my .271 neck chamber. A loaded lapua neck is .268"/.2685" so thats giving me around 2.5-3 thou neck clearance which is about as tight as I want to run. Fireform 6 BR Lapua works great, 29g H4895 seated 10 thou into the lands shoots 1/2 MOA at 2725 fps and cases come out nice.

I really like the BRA cartridge. Definitely going to stick with it. Very accurate and very efficient for a little 6mm burning 30g of powder.

Good stuff Jory . H4895 is a great powder too, I like it. I used it for the 308 with the 150-155's. I'll try that H4895 and Varget when the BRA comes in. My current Lapua brass, new lot of 3 boxes I just bought two weeks ago. Used one box for the BR, and had to switch from .266 bushing to .267 because the Sinclair .242 mandrel was getting pretty snug opening those cases after sizing. My old brass was .268 loaded, this new lot gives me .269 and .003" clearance in that .272 chamber.
29.8 grains Varget is what I use in it pushing the 105 Bergers.
