I had to work a bit to find a load for my .280, but it was worth it. With 150-grain Partitions I can get MOA five-shot groups, even starting with a cold, clean barrel. Great round!
Oh and as for Nosler brass?
I've got two or three hundred RP or Win cases sitting on my bench prepped ready to load.
Bought some Nosler brass on a whim. Bass Pro decided to quit carrying it and put it on sale for $19.99 per 50.
I bought 4 boxes.
My rifle went from an MOA shooter to a 1/2 MOA shooter just by switching cases.
Those "off brand" cases may be sitting there a long time.
I tried 4350 and H4831SC and IMR 4831 has been winning powder in my rifle. 54gr with BT are the goods in this rifle. I'm going to load up a few more AB with 53 and 54gr charges and see what happens.
Looks good! Those are both very respectable groups.
These groups resemble what I expect from my .270Win when the barrel is squeaky clean. The first 3-4 shots are high and then everything stays right where shot #4&5 from your Nosler group are and all of your Rem brass group are. No difference if barrel is hot or cold.
I haven't noticed any difference in brass life or accuracy with the two batches of Nosler brass I own when comparing to the Rem/Win/Hornady brass I load with. They definitely have more brass life than the Federal brass but that holds true for them all. They require no prepping which is nice and maybe a tighter weight tolerance within a bag of fifty but I sort the orther brands by weight anyway. YMMV
Some good loads for my 280 with sub MOA results are:
55gn H-4350 and the 140gn Sierra Game King
57gn Superformance with 154gn Hornady SST
52gn W-780 Supreme and the 168gn Sierra Match King
Remington cases are just as good as Nosler cases. Win lg rifle primers used in all loads.
