Took the 280 Rem out Saturday afternoon and ran some 160 gr Gamekings with RL-19 and have settled on the load I have worked up. Is RL-19 very temp sensitive? It's been the best powder for 160 gr bullets in this rifle.

I've used a lot of RL19 over the years; it has never demonstrated excessive temperature sensitivity in my loads. It is a "go to" powder in the 270WSM; and it works very well in my .280 Rem. You've got a pretty good load there.

Good shooting, for sure.

My 280 Rem eats RL-19 all day long. Your shot groups with 160gn Game Kings look familiar. I ran all the way up to 57gn before finding 55.5gn is the most accurate load.

Very nice. Another big fan of RL19 here. Never been put off for any reason. It usually works very well in it's zone. It was a 338 powder of choice for years. Great speed as well.

it's been the goods with 160 gr bullets.i'd like to get hold of some 160 he acvubonds and see how they perform.

I've been using IMR 4350 with the 150 grain Noslers. Just got some brass today so may have to give the 19 a try. The more I work with the 280 the better I like it.

I loved R19 in two .240W I've had, seems to work really well in '06 size cases. I "loath" R19 in a 338! I had a load worked up with the older 185XLC at about 45 deg. My late cow elk hunt was set to go perfect, a storm came in with good snow up high and temp was 10 deg here in the valley! It was a few days before my hunt and when I checked my zero at 10deg, it was about 150fps slower and group was about 4". Since that 185XLC was so slick, I had a highly compressed load to get any velocity. When I pulled the bul;lets at home, the R19 was a solid cake, had to scrape it out with a screwdriver. I went to H4350 from then on. As mentioned, I never noticed any issues in a smaller case, such as your .280 would be. I'd just check it when it got colder than when you worked up the load. Good luck to you Pard.
