Here are some targets from the day down with Brian. Very productive day to say the least.

My boy also shot this group at 100 yards with his 243. They are using 44gr's of RL19 and 100gr PT's. They clock right at 2950 or so. Very nice shooting load. Think it will do for him this year.

We also did a bunch of field shooting with the 35 Whelen and 270WSM. I got my 338's B&C reticle 300 yard stadia wire zeroed pretty good. Shouldn't be too much of a trick to get the 400 and 500 yard in there next time out on a longer range.

Anyhow, it was a great day. Here are a few pics of my son blasting away with my 44RM on the "little man"

Those aren't softy loads either, they are 240gr Nosler JHP's over 24gr of H110, they have a little zip to them. He did well with the pistol. Very proud of him. He handled that big pistol like it was meant to be! Scotty

Another fun day at the range but man it was hot. I think thats why the chrony stopped working. :x. Scotty forgot to mention that "Billy the Kid" went 6 for 6 with the 44mag on the steel. Scotty and myself went 5 for 6. I forgot to take pics of the great groups with the Glock 10mm or the 500gr 45-70 subsonic loads.

Scott -Cool your son was shooting the "big boy " pistol...that is a hand-full!! Too bad Jim talked me out of the 264 WSM and it got left with him to shoot this week. Brian will have to be happy shooting the Red hawk rifle.

Scotty,

Looks like a good day, and all the better when you're able to include your son. Your rifles aren't shooting badly at all. There are some really find groups there.

Scotty, glad to see you got out with Woody and took the boy!! Awesome for all of you..

But where do you guys shoot in NVA? I have been searching the web and there are not too many choices....

Rod

Boy that sure looks like fun! Scotty Jr did pretty darn good outshoting the Marines! Way to go "lil buddy.

Joel, I will run your loads over my chronograph tomorrow.

Boy, you really have that .264 dialed in, and those groups with the .270 WSM are gonna have me eating some of my words!

Great to see the kid out burning powder with Pops.

Good luck finding anywhere in NVa to shoot. That's why we shoot mostly in Southern Va.

Here is the 45-70 target shot with the 500gr Hornady's. I think they were running about 780FPS or so. Those were the MOST pleasant loads I have ever shot through a 45-70. Makes me wanna mess with some lighter loads for plinking and such. Plus, with light loads like that, my son could get in on the action with the 45-70 as well.

Rod, there is a 1000 yard club around here. I haven't tracked it down yet, but the Quantico shooting club does have two 600 yard ranges and a 1000 yard range, but they are usually taken up on the weekends for match shooting.

I usually shoot as my other friends place. You can shoot out to 400 there, but again, it isn't a proper range, just a back yard shooting range. Scotty

Sounds like a great day! That 130 AB out of the 264 WM LOOKS GOOD!

Thanks Jake, the 264WM is very impressive. I just finished up the final touches on the bedding this morning. Once it is dry, I will sand the barrel channel to give it a little clearance and then reseal it. Should be good to go shortly. Scotty

That sounds right to me. It would be really nice to have decent access to 1000 yards. I would really get a few rifles set up for that kind of shooting if I had the range to test them. Scotty

Should be a great day tomorrow as well. Got Joel, Brian and myself going to tear up the range a bit. Scotty
