Finally got some range time on the 673 Rem. 350 Rem mag and the 350-338 OOPS magnum.
First the Rem. 673 in 350 Rem. 22" barrel guide gun. Using Barnes TSX (sorry) with 61 grs. TAC and and OAL of 2.85 I got 2626fps Avg. ES was 4 fps but that was in only 3 shots.View attachment targets 338-350 001.JPGView attachment targets 338-350 002.JPG
It shot .091
The 338 Win that had the 350 bullet shot through it shot 1.04 . with 200 gr. Nos A/Bs at 2930 fps. I need some more range time and 200yd targets to see the rest of the story but I'm impressed with the 350 in the guide gun and kind of amazed the 338 Win shot that well. I havn't fine tuned OAL yet.
I'm getting to like the Mossberg 4x4. It's light, well ballanced and handles well. Nice trigger to boot. it's Laminated with Marinecoat and looks pretty sharp. The 673 Guide gun is a pocket rocket in 350 Mag.
I'm seriously trying to sell one of the 338s. The RUM, the 340 or this 338 Win. Mossberg but I like them. They all have something special. I need to get over this or I'll never be able to buy the 264 I want.

Good looking effort, Greg. I am coming to really love my 350 RM. It does smack bear with real authority.

Great shooting Greg. Hard to go wrong with the 35's and 338's! Your right, I would like to have them all also. Scotty

200 gr Barnes verses 250 gr Partition

For black bear and elk - both plenty adequate.

200 gr TSX faster and flatter

250 gr Partition - crushing

Since my 673 shoots the 350 Partitons well...should I even bother trying the Barnes bullets?

Cheers

If your rifle shoots the PT's well, I would never mess with the Barnes. Not enough difference to matter and the greater BC on the heavier bullet more than assists with the greater start speed of the 200. Love that 250gr PT in the 35's... Awesomely accurate and just a bell ringer. Scotty

Scotty. Thanks. That was my initial thought. Just wanted a concurring opinion. But then.... I am sure there will be differing opinions also.

orchermo,

If your 673 shoots 250 grain PTs, you don't need to try the 200 grain Barnes. I'm shooting the Barnes primarily because I've not been able to get the 250 grain PTs to give me the accuracy I want.
