Well guys my RMR is now complete and I should have it within the next few weeks :).
I believe that I have asked this question before but I can not find the post :( My wife believes it is the start of old-timers syndrome!
I have the standard 280AI with the 40 degree shoulders and I am wondering if the Nosler 280AI brass will shoot in my rifle or will I have to fire form the 280 Remington factory ammo?
Thank you guys for your patients

PS. I purchased a box of 50 Nosler almost a year ago & afterwards could not buy milk for a month !

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

They are different so Nosler brass may or may not chamber in your rifle.
I was faced with this problem and just fire form R-P brass.

Let me know if you need any load data for your 280AI. The 150 gr ABLR is a perfect
match up for the 280AI. Stock up on RL22. ;)

I'll go down this afternoon and fondle my (er, your) rifle, Dan. If it isn't up to snuff, I'll just seize it (I do have a leftie or two in the family).

Now Mike! you must play nice with Dan.

Yeah, but I'm closer to his rifle than he is! I'm just protecting his interest. Heh, heh, heh!

Maybe send it west and I can play with it for a while, maybe 2 or 3 years :)

I doubt you will have any problems with the Nosler brass, only one way to find out.

I keep wondering if Nosler 280 Remington brass would work for fire forming in the 280 AI (280 Remington Improved 40*).

JD338, I have 200 ABLR 150gr. bullets & 7lbs of RL-22.
Once I get her set up with either the Leica or VX6 on top 8) I will be I touch
PS. Doc if you want to break it in I could send scope & bullets up  I have complete faith in your ability

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,

Sounds like you are ready to go.
The good Doc is indeed the master at breaking in new rifles. :)
FWIW, 61.0 grs RL22 and the 150 gr ABLR got me 3100 fps and sub MOA.

Dan,

I just got back from Corlanes. I fondled a new 280AI with a tan Manners stock, Defiance action and ceracoated metal. Nah, you wouldn't like it. The bolt is on the wrong side, for one thing. Man, I'd be forced to look out the wrong eye, and I know you wouldn't want that. Mighty handsome rifle, other than putting the bolt on the wrong side. Seriously, I believe you are going to be quite pleased.

Mike you are a fine friend  thank you for the up date :)
I likely won't be shooting it until I come back from Cayo Coco

Blessings,
Dan

Well, then, I may just bring it home and see how it fits in one of my safes. I should be able to get something working before my grandson comes up next summer.

I didn't have my camera with me, or I would have snapped a photo or two.

What's a Cayo Coco? Do you drink it? Or throw rocks at it?

It is a small island with plus 30C temperatures & plenty of sand & sun :).
I might have a spelling mistake or 2

Nah, that just means you can run the action without having to pull your right hand off the grip or your eye off the scope... :)

Dan,

When do you anticipate having the 280AI in hand?

I thought the Nosler brass was 40 deg. I've heard issues with tight primer pockets, but that's it. Are you saying they may not fit the standard AI chamber?

JD338 likely end of next week or the week after :).
Yes I was told that brass are of too SAAMI and that is not exactly the same as the original AI:(. But as gerry stated I am going to give them a try. I have one of the best builders in Canada so I know they are strong!!

Blessings,
Dan
