Does anyone have any information for a reduced load with the 35 Whelen and the 225 Ballistic Tip? What is the minimum velocity needed for the bullet to expand properly?
I shot a mule deer in the ochocos a couple of years ago using a 225 bt at 2600 fps. I hit a little high and blew a couple of vertibrae out of the spine, I had a soft ball size exit hole. I have decided on 200 rem cl on deer and 250 partitions on elk and deer. The whelen is great. I have never had anything go more then 10 feet after being hit.
