Rel 26 7mm08

Has any one tried this powder in a 7mm08. It works good in my 6.5 creed with 140 nosler part. Thoughts and opinions with the 7mm08?

I found RL-19 too slow for mine. Book said about 2900 w/ a 140gr AB. I didn't even get 2700!

I can't see where RL-26 be any more than wasting time & powder.

I thought y’all were off your rockers saying it was too slow after seeing how great 26 is in the Creedmoor but quickload concurs. Can’t get enough powder in the case.

There are a litany of guys pushing 140s to 2900+ in the Creedmoor which is similar in case capacity so I’m kinda stumped why 26 isn’t a good powder for 7mm-08 as well.

That was my thought as well. That is why I posed the question. I am getting right at 2800fps out of a 22im barreled creedmoor with rel 26 and a140 nosler Partition.

Same here. 2925 FPS with a 143gr ELD-X and 24” barrel. Using about as much 26 as I can fit in the case. And my numbers were right in line with what QuickLoad predicted so I figure it’s right about being too slow for 7mm08. Can’t get it above 42k PSI

RL17 seems to be made for the 7-08 . in my one 7-08 I'm shooting 140 Berger VLD hunting at 3080 FPS , 24"bbl .

RL16 also works but your looking at 48-50 grains....the case is full. I've taken a 140gr E-tip up to just shy of 3000fps with a 22" barrel.

Scotty ran a Quickload for me awhile back for 162's and 180's in the 7-08 with RL26. Seemed like it might be worth it with the heavies. For 162's, it was modeled as equaling RL17 at less pressure(by the time 110% density was reached) and showed really good velocity with 180's at 110% and getting up over 60K psi. In other cartridges, RL26 has been more temp-stable than RL17 for me.

In summary, I'd try RL16 for sub-160 grain bullets, and give RL26 a shot with the heavies.
