Reloader 26 in 338 RUM ?

I'm very interested in this as well. I have a buddy that shoots 909 gr RL-25 in his and it does a really nice job with the 250 VLD.

My 280 AI and both of my 6.5 SAUM like RL-26. Would be good to get it working in the 338 RUM also.

I should give it a try but Retumbo works very well and I have a couple 8 pounders of Retumbo so it might be a while before I get around to trying a different powder.

Well got me a HS Tan stock for RUM and a Timney Trigger

I sent it off to Mag Na Port for a Port job.......waiting for it to get back.

I have not even shot it yet........but that XCR 2 stock had to go........very cheap and way to light.

The rifle arrived from Magna Port......excellent job.
Installed the HS stock with the HS detachable floor plate.........really like that.
Installed the Timney Trigger.........went to the range.

225gr Accubonds
H1000 at 97.5
RP brass with CCI 250 primers
Seated out to 3.365" that Rem 700 has a long throat
Shot very nice......now I have that Badger M16 extractor to put in

This is on my short list to get tested, but I have been focused on my STW with the 195 VLD. I'm leaning towards switching to a lighter bullet. I'm thinking my 1:9 isn't going to get it done.

A good friend of mine is using 90 gr of RL-25 with the 250 VLD in his RUM and it is shooting very well. I figured I would start at 88 and work up. After seeing the QL data, I would say that is still a decent plan. I'll be sure to keep you posted on the results when I get it done. It might be a few weeks still though.

Based on the QL data Retumbo is 100 fps faster, not to mention very accurate.

I got a chance to play with some RL-26 in my Rum last weekend. I was pushing the 250 VLD out of a 26" tube. I shot 89 gr, 89.5, and 90 gr. 89.5 gave me a nice 3/4" group out of the gate. Es was 18 doing about 3010 on average. That rifle had been giving me trouble for a while, it just wasn't shooting like it used to. Well I found out why after I shot this test. My front base screws were loose by several turns. I'm going to try 89.5 again with several seating depths.

I didn't see any obvious pressure signs, but based on velocity, I have to be getting up there.

That load sounds good with RL 26

It suppose to be Aliant answer in 338 Lapua with 250's.

The Reloader 33 was to slow for 250's .........so they introduced Reloader 26.

In my 338 Lapua I have chose H1000 as powder of choice.
Reloader 22 in my 338 RUM with 225gr A Frame

Sold the Lapua AR-30 !

In my Rum I use 225gr A Frame with 91.0 of RL 22.

Currently my XCR Rum is at the smith for a M16 extractor and Tactical bolt Knob.

I had a good load with H1000 and the 225 AB as well. I just like the heavier bullet a bit better. I agree that the RL-33 would be to slow for the 250.

Hi - hey Fotis Could you PLEASE :) run some data on the 338 RUM with 250 Gr-ers and H1000 powder -With a 225 gr Hornady SST bullets i am using 102 grs and get right about 3200 fps out of my R M700 with a 26 " tube ! (y)

Cheers :) RJ

I might have to give RL 26 a try in my 338 RUM with the 250 gr AB.
I'm currently using Retumbo and getting 3000 fps and .5 MOA.
I get 3200 fps with the 210 gr PT and a Max load of RL22.

That is a hot load of 102gr of H1000 with 225gr in the 338 Rum.

I am running 97.5 of H1000 with the 225 AB for 3100 FPS.......:)

How many loadings do you get from a case before you have lose primer pockets?
