I am thinking about getting this gun and was wondering if the 1/14 twist is good enough for shooting varmints etc. Been reading and most people say to use 40-50g bullets will that be good enough?
The 1:14" twist rate is standard for the .22-250. It will handle bullets from 40 to 55 grains easily. The twist rate is the last thing to worry about for a .22-250 varmint rifle. If you want to shoot longrange targets, then a tighter twist is required for the long target bullets.
Thanks lonestar that's what I needed to know. I am in oklahoma btw. Congrats on the Longhorns kick'n some usc a$$. I was rootin for them the whole time.
Not all 1 in 14 twist will shoot the 55g plastic tipped bullets. That has been the experiences of more then a few. They are longer then conventional soft point boat tails and sometimes they need a 1 in 12. It all just depends on the rifle itself. You will never know unless you pick up a box of each.
