In wi there are a few of these floating around and most are in 06 or270. What other calibers do they come in? I think it would be fun to find one and clean it up and turn it into a deer drive rifle with a low power scope or even a red dot. I found a few in 35 rem. I am going to start looking local.

If I am not mistaken, the 7600 is also available in 35 Whelen. A true WT hammer.

I am with Jim. The 35 Whelen would be a fun rifle to have for what you mentioned. There are also some 300 Savages too, I think.

A 35 Rem would be a neat one too.

Although, a nice lever rifle is a good rifle for what your describing as well. Nothing like toting a 444, 45-70, 35 Remington in a well made lever rifle. Pretty fast into action as well.

Now depending how far back you want to go.....

243 25-06 7mm-08 280 308 300 savage 35 remington 6mm 223 222

In fact Layne Simpson won many a bet outshooting benchrest guys with that triple deuce!

The Rem CF pumps are herd animals. You'll see large concentrations of them in PA and Michigan with smaller herds in surrounding areas.

I've never met a dissatisfied owner. I can rack a pump as fast as any lever. I do know of a few times where friends have left a magazine at home and we never had any problems finding a replacement.

35 whelen would work so would a 35 rem I guess. I would love to refinish one and turn it into a shooter. I will keep my eyes open for a steal.

Oh man, that Maple stocked one is very nice. Maple is one of my favorites, love that light color.

I once had a 760 in 30-06 I got as part of a trade. It was a lot more accurate than I ever thought a pump rifle would be. I just didn't care for the way the forearm rattled so I sold it. Gads! When I think about it, that was almost 40 years ago.

I've had several that shot well in 30-06 and 270. My left handed friends kept buying them from me. One of my coyote guns now is a 7615 that shoots around 3/4" with Black hills 55gr ammo. The Timney trigger kits for 870's work in them also, mine has a decent 2.5lb trigger.

I know.....I know!
Trying to revive a dead post! I can hear it already!
I have had 3 Remington 760 Gamemasters, .308, 6mm Remington, now .30-06.
Yes, the slides do rattle a little, something inherent in the design. I can live with it. If you can't, then don't get one.
The one in .308 was very accurate. It would shoot .75 to 1 inch groups all day long.
That was the second most accurate rifle I have ever owned.
I'm hoping the one in .30-06 is as accurate, or as close to being as aaccurate.
I had a few gentlemen tell me their 760's are quite accurate and will shoot better than most bolt actions on the market.
Now, the 760 isn't as popular down here in S. Central Texas as bolts or semi autos like they are up in Pennsylvania, or other deep wooded areas up north. But I'm hooked on them!
I know it will be a good wild hog buster, and who knows, they might catch on since you can have fast repeat shots without taking it off your shoulder.
I too, am not a traditional bolt man, and I do like the different rifle that works well, and is accurate, such as my Remington 760 .30-06.

I agree! Either of those calibers would be great!
I would lean towards the .35 Whelen. That's a great thumper of big game.

In the late 90's, I think they chambered the 7600 in .260 Remington, which I would like to get also.

I currently own one of each

The 280 was a limited run from Grice Wholesale many moons ago. The 35 Whelen I found at a Scheels in Iowa two years ago. Someon had traded/sold a 7400, 7600, and 700 but I could only afford one.

So far, both have proven to be an inch or better shooter if I do my part.
