I just sold a take off REMMY 204 Ruger barrel to a guy and he has decided not to have it put on his rifle - in fact he has sold his Remmy M700 ADL 222 to me and i have also bought my barrel back from him - Now the problem is that the REMMY is VERY nice and i think 1968 vintage so should i tear off the 22 barrel and install the 204 ruger barrel or should i just leave it alone :?: Big decision for me ! LOL :) What you GUYs think ? RJ

Jim, I would try it as is right now if it doesn't shoot well then get the 204 barrel put on. The 222 is one cool round, don't you own a 204 all ready? Can't remember off hand right now.

I have had several 222's now the last was a very mint M600 and before that a a couple of M700's
I have never had a 204 Ruger rifle yet  - i just had the barrel and i was looking for a m600 or m700 to install the barrel on - got tired of looking so i sold the barrel on cgn and now i get it back along with a rifle ! LOL Funny how some deals turn out ! :) RJ

Stay with the 222; it is a great cartridge. Somehow, the 204 never excited me. But the 222...

Yeah, that 222 Rem is classic! I've always wanted one myself. Awesome little varminter and beautiful long neck!

It's a mini 30-06 with that long neck, why not hold out for another good deal for a shot out 223 or 204 that you could get for a good price you will find one eventually. Of course if the 222 doesn't shoot then you are good to go in rebarreling that one. I always wanted a 222 but try to find one in a left hand bolt gun :( now a days I would be just as happy with a 223 and it's faster twist barrel.

I have a Rem M7 SYN in 223 that i could swap over to the 204 barrel - HMM ! :) RJ

That might work you could keep the 223 barrel if you get bored with the 204 or the barrel burns out.

So many decisions to make :!: - whats gun nut to do :?:  RJ

Well you have come to the right place to talk about it.

Shoot the tripple duece....or turn her into a "safe queen". Somebody has a donor action out there for the 204. But thats just me.... CL
