Remington 200 CLRN .35 Remington or other Cartridges

I haven't yet but they are rated to be the best 200 gr RN bullet by many people. Would love to try them in my little BLR 358 Win. Be neat to hear what the guys here have to say that have used it.

I hunted with a 35 Rem for a couple of years. Loved the cartridge, hated the M336, so I traded it for a Jon boat & motor.
All the deer I shot went down pretty d@mn quickly. Nice quarter sized exit holes, stand-up/spray paint blood trails for the whole 20-40 yds it took to recover them.
But.....the 35 Rem and the 358 Win are two different animals. My thoughts are that a close range shot just might be a bit much out of a 358. Wouldn't be the 1st time I was wrong though.

I've never tested them as you guys do but I did shoot one this morning. I think this makes 4 shots and 4 deer down with them in that rifle. He ran about 30 yards before giving up.

The only 200 grain .358…..3595” …I’ve shot deer with are these….
Loaded with 40 grains of varget they chrony at 2100 fps out of 336. They have dropped every deer I’ve shot with them where they stood when shot. I’ve shot a few with 180 grain hot cores. They do good as well but. Sone stagger a few feet with heart and lung archery shots and some make it 60 yards with low heart and far back liver shots. The 200 grain hollow points dump them in their tracks. Gotta load some up for my 7600’s and get them to feed and cycle.

I realize this is an older thread but couldn't help throwing in a comment on the 35 Remington with 200gr Remington Core-lokts. I have found this to be an absolute hammer on deer and the accuracy out of my Marlin 336 has to be seen to be believed. It regularly shoots under an inch an on occasions when I hold my mouth just right it will shoot about half of that.
My favorite load puts the Core-Lokts over the chronograph at 2200fps and gives me enough confidence that I'm taking it to Alberta next Spring to kill me a bear. Where ill be hunting I'll have two tags so...
I can't decide if my second rifle should be my Steel framed BLR-81 in 358win or my Remington 7600 in 35Whelen. While bullet selection is easy for the 35Rem its not so easy for the other two. The 358 has killed lots of deer with the 200 gr Hornady RN but its not what ill take for bear. I have a load that is just shy of 2400 fps with the excellent 225gr Nosler Partition that has taken numerous deer as well. This is likely what I'll shoot if I choose the 358. But I also n have 180gr and 200gr Barnes TTSX. along with the 225gr Sierra BTSP, the 180gr and 220gr Speer, and 225 Nosler Ballistic Tip and the Nosler 200gr AccuBond. After I already bought the Accubonds I talked to Nosler and the technician I spoke with said it may not expand on our smallish deer but I'm betting it would do a number on bear.
I'm tempted to just use the 225Nosler Partition in the 358 BLR-81 and forget it. But if the Whelen goes then I've got some shooting to do!
So tell me what you would shoot in the 35Whelen and why you chose that bullet. What are your experiences with any of these choices?

Id trade you for the ballistic tips for some of my cast 200 grain hollow points. I always wanted to try those. The 200 grain cast hollow points hammer deer. Id be using the partitions for bear in the 35 Whelen since you have them. Shot a few bear with 200 grain partitions out of my 300 RUM. I gave my TSSX bullets away. They go in small and go out small. They act like a full metal jacket on deer and bear for me. Thats my last choice. I tried 180 grain hot cores in my whelen 7600 carbine on deer last year. Shot three broadside heart and lung shots. All three ran after perfect shots. One went ten yards and the other ones went forty to sixty yards. My thirty five remington With the two hundred green , cast is asked running two hundred feet per second slower dump deer off their feet.

They are my go to blacktail deer bullet in the 35 Whelen loaded to 2600 fps w/ blc2. I have never recovered them and deer generally DRT. I ran out and tried hornady rn and deer still dear but have recovered jackets and bits of lead from separation.
