Remington buys Montana Rifle Co.

Lets hope so. My fear is that Remington will destroy a quality rifle to reap bigger profits.

Will we now see a "Remington Model 70"?

Oh, wait a minute ... this is getting ugly!

Umm....what?! Will this be the same thing as what happened to the Marlins?!...

Kind of glad I bought my MRC 1999 when I did now....

They just bought the barrel making part of the business, Brian retained the receiver manufacturing part.

Maybe they will finally be able to put a decent barrel on a gun now.

Or ruin them!

In regards to the barrel; Mine I couldnt be happier with. After following their break in procedure, with Federal Fusion 140grn, I have been mightily impressed with the gun. My initial sight in after the break in produced a VERY good group...will have to take a picture and post it up.

RIP is right, the only thing worse would have been the government buying it. Its pretty bad when a pre remington bushmaster is worth more than a post remington bushmaster.

It is to bad that Remington's reputation has been that badly damaged :(
My CDL in the 270 Win is a fine shooting rifle as is my nephew's 7mm mag.
The Remington 700 action is world renown.
I believe their quality could be brought back if they really wanted, but not with current management team

Blessings,
Dan

These days, if someone has a basic grade MRC rifle ordered, what is the delivery time?

Kodiak,

I ordered my MRC 1999 XWR in December. They told me it would be ready mid February, but It came in the middle of January.

I have a few Remington rifles and they are good guns, newest is probably an '04 or so. I feel the product just isn't worth the price asked anymore.

Aside from poor quality, my biggest issue with Remington is what they did to Marlin. They MBA'ed it and stripped Marlin of all its skilled employees by firing them. The end result is that they screwed up the best old time manufacturer of lever action rifles left in this country. The Winchester 92 and 94's are made in Japan now. The new Marlins are rough and are a crap shoot as to whether you get a good one. Hooray and thanks Remington!
