Used a product called Howard Feed N Wax for the final finish. It's a citrus oil and beeswax based protective coating. A friend who restores high end antique woodwork and furniture turned me on to it. Dries and buffs to a buttery soft protective coating and brought out the grain a bit. Moderately shiney, but not overly bright. Did a weather test on a broken shotgun stock out in the yard. Kept the water out completely and didn't chalk or gum. Also shows good abrasion resistance. I recommend it.
