What scope options are out there for a fixed power or low power variable that will hold up to severe recoil?

From Leupold I am thinking either the FX II 6x36mm or the VX-3 2.5-8x36mm in duel dove tail mounts.
Not interested in a high magnification scope, want something that is smaller and lighter weight
that won't break the bank.
What other options are there?

I might add the 6x42 FX3 and the VX3 1.5-5x.

Kurt,

Actually I would also consider the VX3 1.75-6x32mm as well.

Man Jim, for a hard kicker, I would think a 2.5X or 4X Leupold would be pretty good stuff. I am not sure what you are planning on putting it on, but I imagine you aren't going to be shooting LR with it, but even then, you can still get some useful range out of a 4X and really a 6X.

I know if the sky was the limit, this would be a scope I would like to have...

Good luck buddy. I have a M8 4X Leupold I bought back about 20 years ago for use on my 11-87 Slug Gun. That scope has never faltered, glass is pretty danged good. I bet the new ones are even better.

I would look at a fixed Leupold as well, depending on the terrain hunted a 4 or 6 x with the LR duplex. Or get a turret installed from the factory. I would like to find a way of getting one of these into Canada in a 6x42 you might consider one of the variables for what you have in mind. They are supposed to be quite tough.

A 375 RUM would have a bit of recoil

Gerry,

I have shot the 375 RUM, recoil isn't that much more than the 338 RUM.

I would have to imagine that one of the fixed power Leupolds or either of the VX3s that you named would work well for you, Jim.

I wouldn't be hesitant to put on an Elite 6500 1.25-8x32 either with the 30mm tube and RainGuard. The Meostar 1.5-6x42 may be too large in size and cost based upon your desired specs but they look like a bright, low power scope.

The Bushnell 6500 has a great reputation and the 5 " eye relief should be great on a heavy kicker. Thought hard about buying one but got a great deal on a used Leupold 6x36.

Thanks fellas.
I think I will go with either a VX3 1.75-6x32mm or a 2.5-8x36mm for this one.

The 1.5-5x20 VX 3 would be another low power Leupold scope that would hold up to recoil as well. I recently bought one of these to put on my .338 Federal.

This one would rock!!!!
