Well, the rough rifle stock arrived back from UPS today. Here's what she looks like, with a lot of work still left to do. Lenny Standish in Stevensville, MT did the initial stock shaping and rough inletting. I will still shape the stock some, I think making the foreend a bit slimmer and possibly also the grip slimmer.
I'll take pics along the way, and hope to get some work done in the next couple weeks.
This is the new stock, below the one that was on Grandpa's rifle. I asked that Lenny remove the Monte Carlo and cheekpiece, as I prefer to hold closer to me than they allow.

The first three pics the stock is dry, and the last three I got it wet.

As an aside, my mother made the quilt about 10 years ago when my wife and I were married.
