Round Robin with the Bear Rifles

Try the 215 Mag Match primers. I was shooting 1.5 inch groups at 200 yards with them and the 225 Partitions in the .340 Weatherby.

I tried them Charlie, groups opened up with the 215M's, and its the load I was talking about that the speeds actually slowed down, compared to CCI250's. I have about 900 Fed 215M's, but I will try them in something else. I know they are good primers, but I have had nothing but great luck with the CCI250's in my loads, so I am a little shy to change.

Scotty,

Something to keep in mind with pre '64 70s, is the tuning of the fore-end screw can make a great difference in group sizes. In my research over several years, most 70s liked the screw loosened a little. If this works for you, place a tiny drop of med. loc-tite on the screw after you get the groups where you like them.

I had two .338s that would put the 250 Nosler Part. into 1.5" at 200 yds.

You might also consider trying Win LR primers to shrink group sizes.

Best of luck,

Jim

Jim, I might try some WLR's sometime soon and see how they shake out. Appreciate the info. I have played with the forend screw and mine seemed to shoot better tight, at least on the order of 30-40" lbs.

Scotty, I am amazed! The lawyers must have gotten to Alliant (Federal's owners). It did not used to be this way! Any how, I have both Fed 215 and CCI 250's. I will have to get the Chrono out!
