Ruger #1 load in 45-70 needed?

plan on using the Speer 350gr FN what is the Max in the Speer manual for Ruger #1?

'Morning Jeff - looking at Speer #13, for the Ruger #1 here are some loads for the 350 gr Speer:

AA2015BR 60gr = 2122 fps
VV N123 60 gr = 2104 fps
IMR 4198 51.5 gr = 2049 fps
H4895 63 gr = 2019 fps
IMR 3031 61 gr = 2016 fps
H322 60 gr = 2015 fps
RE-7 50 gr = 1959 fps

Those are all max loads using Winchester brass & CCI primers, loads from Speer #13 manual.

No. 14 has not changed significantly. I note that RL7 is not listed in the current data. VV N123 should have read VV N133. I will add these powders from the current manual:

IMR 4895 61.0 gr = 2016 fps
RL 10X 50.0 gr = 1983 fps

Thanks got my load:

IMR 4198 @ 52.0
350gr Speer FN
WLR primers in WW brass

When I had my 45-70 Ruger #1 I drove the 350's at 2100+ fps easy.
Actually you can drive the 400 grainers that fast safely.

That is a stomper of a load. That 45-70 in a Ruger is a cool rifle. How does it shoot and how fast? Just wondering as I messing with 45-70 loads this week. Granted I am loading for an 1895G but it still never hurts to add some more data to the pot. Scotty

This load is not for the Marlin.........the best load I used in the Marlin was

Reloader 7 @ 52.0
350 Hornady FN
WW Brass
Fed 210GM

2000 FPS
