Well my wife, kids and the father in law went out for a drive today. Trying to see if our hunting ground is accessible right now with the snow. I might try some shed hunting this year. We took some firewood, and the essentials for a trail side hotdog, s'mores etc.

Driving back everyone in the truck was asleep, except for me obviously. I saw 2 dark critters which I thought were horses in the distance. The road we were coming back on goes through farms and people having horses out is not uncommon.

I stopped the truck because these things saw me and they stopped. Right away I woke up the truck and yelled Moose! They stood there looking at us looking at them. She obviously wanted to go where they were going bad because they both started trotting on by. I got out the IPhone at the last few seconds and managed to get this. She looked at me and kind of grunted on the way by.

It was pretty cool.

Edit: It just shows the picture, but click on it for the video. (y)

Excellent. They do look to be in good shape, as Gerry says. She wasn't too disturbed.

I never think to take a camera to church. The cow that winters over in the copse behind the church building often comes out to look around at what we are doing. She has twins this year. I believe there are about five moose wintering over in the townsite this year. That's about average.

I can see it now, excusing yourself during your sermon to take a picture of the moose

I'd have to shove parishioners away from the windows to take the pictures. There is also a small herd of mule deer that wander up from the creek on a regular basis.

I would have actually had about 10 more seconds of video had I clued in that I had a camera attached to my belt. We were all sitting there, kind of dumbfounded and the wife speaks up saying to take video of it. I said I don't have a camera with me right now, to which she reminded me that I have one on my phone. Phone is smart...operator not so much. :)

Always nice to see wildlife during a little excursion (y) thank you for the post!!

Blessings,
Dan

Nothing wrong with excusing yourself from your sermon to take important pictures or to marvel at the Lord's blessings.

Why am I suddenly thinking of Dom Deluise in a white suit?

All in jest Dr. Mike, no dispargement intended. When Pastors and television get mentioned I'm suddenly reminded of an old movie, "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas." :)
Please forgive my shenanigans.

I'm under the microscope, Vince. I am compelled to dispel every caricature of preachers Hollywood and stand-up comedians have produced.

Fear not good Doctor Mike for I am not without sin and will cast no stone unless it's for skipping on the water. :)

Awesome!!

We get whitetails & turkeys in the windows behind the preacher, and they run by the windows of my (5th & 6th grade) Sunday Scool classroom rather regularly. My teaching pard likes to say, "there isn't anything like General revelation to get in the way of teaching kids about special!" as we ALL rush to the window!

I read a post from my daughter on Facebook today. She moved up to the north this past Fall. Among other things that she posted was this gem:

"I like the slower, more relaxed pace, and I think its exciting to see moose, elk and deer walking through town."

Well, I guess!

Yes it is a great place to be, and I have to also say that your church was very kind to my wife and I. we felt quite welcome there. Would have loved to see the moose living near by though

She brings her young'uns out to the edge of the woods on a fairly regular basis. People enjoy meeting those individuals who actually hunt with the pastor.

Around here a Pastor that hunts is a rarity. :(
I'm glad there is still one or two that still do.
