Saskatchewan Whitetail

Hey Preacher, Mike shoots a BDL in the 270win. The load he is using is the old standby of 4831 & 130gr. Accubonds. 2 years ago I had the opportunity to pick up a Sendero in a 7mm mag for him. I asked him if I should make the deal & he advised no way he loved his BDL.

Blessings,
Dan

Got back from my Nephew's today just before lunch . Animal wise I can not remember the last time I went a entire fall with out taking home at least 1 animal.
Tuesday we saw 50 Whitetail deer but all spikers & does. I had made the remark I was just not going to shoot any old deer I wanted to harvest a good buck. Anyways yesterday we shot 2 skunks & my nephew anchored a small 4X4 just after lunch. I worked hard this fall but just not in the right place at the right time!
Still I consider this fall a great success.

Blessings,
Dan

Okay, now I know what happened to me this fall! I hunted with Dan! Yup, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Dan,

A bad day hunting beats a good day working. :)

Rats always wanted to hunt there! But will have to stick with the little bucks we have around here; unless I win the lottery

Hey 35 Whelen that is a fine buck. I am sure that the Whitetail will make a come back here it really seems the hunters are taking notice and trying to help the recovery.

This area seams to keep producing some knarly olde NT, antlers, large bases and webbing is very common around here, we dont get real excited about a buck unless he has 6/ 6.5"bases. You cant see it in the picture but that buck has 8" of palmation in his webbing between his g2/g3 and had 6 5/8 " bases. Brow tines were 8/9" and just the antlers weighed 8.5lbs ...... quite alot of total mass. He had the same drop tine on the left antler as you see on the right one but had snaped it off fighting before we got him landed! He weighed 237 dress. Took us 4 years to get him and he was 7.5 years old , so had given us the slip manny times before?? That buck was killed years ago and just the antlers mounted on a board , but finally had it done up about fifteen years ago. Had a hunter that kept at me for years that wanted it and he finally said" what is it going to take to get those horns away from you"??? I had just been informed the day before ;that the middle cly of my 50hp Johnson was cooked, and it was a $1500 deal to repair it! So I had looked into a new 40hp Yamaha with tilt n trim, so
Just being stupid I said " A new 40hp Yamaha outboard" well I bet you know who left with it!!!!!! I still have the motor on a Lund boat, but I heard he got tired of some of his bigger heads and sold them, the rummor is its now hanging at a ranch in Texas................. who knows

Beauty of a buck right there. I love those northern bucks with heavy, dark horns.
