I have a Lee scale and have used it for the last 6 years. I have always thought that it was cheap but it does work for me. I would like to upgrade, but I don't know what to get. Should I get a better beam or digital scale? I don't want to spend a ton of money. (150 would be about max)

I've been using a PACT Digital Precision Powder Scale since the early 90s and I am very pleased with it.

I use a Lyman-Ohaus 505 that I bought in 1965, plus a fairly new Hornady Digital GS350 to weigh bullets and verify the powder scale at setup. The Lyman is still as accurate as it was when new.

If about $150 is your limit, check out Scotty's review of the SmartReloader scale and dispenser. I believe it's $165 from Natchez right now.

I use a RCBS digital scale. Not sure the model off hand but it is small. Made in the USA though which is cool.

Works great.

The protective storage is the only draw back. No hard case. So i keep it sotred in the original box as the box has some padding.

Scale works like a champ....just wish it had a hard case.

The Smartreloader looks great. I watched the YouTube video and like what I see. I just need to save up a little bit and maybe I will take the dive and try one out.

I'd order one myself but Natchez has a deal where they won't sell to folks in AL, TN, & GA, because they service a lot of dealers in these states. So I can't buy it from them - and their nearest competitor is pricing this model at $200! Crazy! I'm thinking about asking for a price match, but I don't know. I have enough Christmas and birthday money to do it, but I could just get another rifle and stick with my balance beam...

Midsouth has the Hornady for $199. I have one and I think it works as well as the RCBS I had a few years ago.

Well after further thought, I am going to pass on the Smartreloader. I am now looking at the Hornady Lock n Load Bench Scale. Any input on these?

I am not sure how you could go wrong with the ISD Smartreloader. It works well, zero's easily and drops charges pretty much spot on. Sometimes it is off my a .1 but not enough to bother me. Plus, it is very adjustable. I do have a RCBC 10-10 but I haven't used it since I got the ISD. It is still kinda new, but for the money, if you can get it, it is a top notch piece of equipment. I think it is made in Sweden as well. Heck, at least its not all Chinese! Scotty

I did a lot of research and purchased the RCBS Chargemaster Dispenser and scale and I love it. The RCBS unit is very nice and very accurate with no issues. It is also very expensive (sigh) I initially was double measuring with both the new unit and my RCBS 5-0-5 scale. After a few days it was spot on so I now only periodically use both to confirm charge throw.

but ..... I never saw the SmartReloader till "after" I bought the RCBS Chargemaster. Darn!!! Then after chattting a little with Scotty, I found he was getting the SmartReloader and for 1/2 the price of the RCBS. I would go with the Scotty's recommendation of the SmartReloader if you want an electronic scale and dispenser. (I have not read his review yet - going looking for it now)

That SmartReloader might just be your ticket at just under $165. ish
Good find Scotty!!!
