I happened across a classified at yesterday that I couldn't pass up.

Red hawk rifles. M40 tactical/target rifle never fired. Wyatt detachable box magazine with 4 five round and 1 ten round center feed mags. Timney target trigger set at 2lb. 20moa one piece picitiny rail. Harris 13" swivel bipod. NIB never mounted 6.5-20x50 ziess conquest mildot. With brass and some ammo. $1750

Having been planning on building a long range rig for a while now I jumped on it. Picked it up last night and was really impressed, everything brand new, and some brass and ammo turned out to be nearly 200 rounds of factory ammo and 100 virgin Norma brass. Added a set of high tactical rings and I'm in business.

308 winchester

It has a 26" 1-12 barrel and Wyatt magazines have a COL of 2.88". I figure 155-168gr bullets will be ideal. I have a bunch of 168 Berger vld, 150 ballistic tips, 165gr accubonds, and plan on picking up some 155gr matchkings and maybe a box of custom competitions to try out. I have a several pounds of varget, 414, and Imr 4895. I have had great luck with IMR 4895 and Bergers at 2700fps in another 308 that I have.

Wow! Very nice rifle and a great price for everything you got with it. I'm thinking a nice 308 would be a bunch of fun to have.

Very nice.
I bet she will be a shooter.

Nice package for the price! You may be a little limited on the distances you can shoot with the Zeiss scope. It should be able to get 800 yards with the 20 moa rail, but I don't think there will be enough for 1000 in the 308 caliber. I have the same scope on a 22BR and if I remember right, there is about 18 moa in the elevation adjustments. The guys that shoot F/TR with 308's tell me they are around 26 moa for 1000 yards.

Haven't had a chance to load anything up for it yet but did have a couple of boxes of 168gr amax hornady ammo to the range. I got it dialed in fairly quickly. No recoil to speak of and scope was nice and clear. Trigger breaks right at 3 pounds 4 ounces, A little heavier than I would like. 5 shot groups were hovering around an inch. It shows potential. I have some 168 Berger vld that I'm working up for it.

Very cool. I have had excellent luck with the Nosler 168gr. CC and Varget in my 308 tactical.

just been too busy cutting/canning/grinding caribou to mess with it last few days. Hoping to get it apart and lighten up the trigger later this week.

Loaded up some ammo to test it for accuracy. I found some promise in the 168 Berger vld @ 2675fps. A little more fine tuning and this load might work nicely.
