Well, I guess I know about where to start with my M70 RUM!

I would bet you would be in fine shape starting a few grains lower Kurt. This is a good shooting load that I hear works in many 300RUMS. Tell you what, you should send it over to me for "Testing" and I will let you know. Trust me, I will take GREAT care of it.... Scotty

Wait, don't you want me to scope it first?

Scotty & Woodycreek,
Boys, I have to say that is a fine job of shooting at 300 yds. The 300 RUM is tuned in mighty fine. I'd like to get mine dialed in like that too.

Don

BK & DON,
Give the 200gr AccuBond, Retumbo, and Fed215M a try. Nosler brass also if you can find it. You should see results between 93-95 grains of Retumbo with 95 grains being book Max.

Nah it's fine as is! I'll figure something out!

Nice shooting, you guys sure have found some good loads for your guns.

Almost forgot about Scotty's 7wsm that I shot at 300 yards also. The one on the left was a fouler or pulled. I think it was the fouler  It still put four shot in a nice group.

I'll say! Great little rifle. You haven't twisted Scotty's arm yet to take that sorry little rifle off his hands, Brian?

Very tempted to try that Doc! I get to use it for free on the Elk hunt so maybe I should wait?

Good plan. Undoubtedly, he'll be distracted at some point and you can slip it in your own gun case. He'll never miss it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa- Hold the train! That little 7 is a darned great rifle. It is the EXACT twin to my 270WSM! Brian will have to get his own... Which should be no problem now that Winchester is chambering the 7WSM again. I figured this would be just the rifle to get Brian coaxed into giving the WSM's a try. Haven't met anyone yet that had one that didn't like the chambering.

Mike said it a million times before I bought mine, but that 7 was fantastic right outta the gate and seemed to shoot everything really well. Scotty

Well, I just thought, you being the generous fellow you are that you'd want to help out Brian who has only recently seen the light that opens when one handles fine firearms.

Consequently, Scotty, I'm eying a new 1886 chambered in 45-70. If I secure it, I'll put a Williams peep sight on it and use it as a bush gun. It is a pretty skookum rifle, I tell you. Even a blind guy like me could use that with an appropriate sight on it. I have a Williams I pulled off a Model 94, but I'll have to do some horse trading to get one that fits the Model 86. The price isn't bad. I'll see in the next few days how bad the hit is going to be on the firearms I have on the go and see how much extra work I have to do. I'm working up a 7mm RUM and a 22-250 AI right now, and doing some work (finally) on my new .280. The 9.3 X 64 was test fired yesterday and it will shortly have the extractor groove cut. It is moving along. Hopefully, I'll have a couple of posts shortly.

DrMike, you might need a 55 gallon aperture size (just kidding) but it is a great rifle. I have always admired the 1886 but never have owned one.

Ah, Charlie, I just get close enough that I can feel fur and I'm reasonably confident of my shot. Use enough bullet as you may need to do a Texas heart shot.
