well i hunted with the new master series 2.8x10x44 last season and was very happy with it. it is installed on a weatherby vangaurd 300 win mag. now i have on my wish list a new 4x14x44 sf matte truplex. it will be used on a old push feed win mod 70 in 243. in the new midway catalog it lists for $214.99 and if it is as good as the 2.8x10x44 it will be money well saved, compared to the equal quality higher priced alturnitives.

I too have wondered about the AETEC. They are about 1/2 the price of the Leopold and seem to offer the same type of perks.

Let us know how the Atec works out for you.

I went to my local Gander Mtn. this morning and they had NO Simmons scopes. When I asked why, they could not give me a good answer. The only thing they had that a normal person could afford was Barska. Very disappointed. Asked the price of a CZ 550 classic in 6.5x55 and they quoted me $737...$40 over retail!

My local Gander Mountain has a fair supply of scopes from cheap to ridiculous, but it is not consistent as to what they offer. As for rifles, I can buy new rifles about two blocks down the street for less than the same thing used at Gander, and I cannot figure out how they price their rifles, as they are at least $75-150 more than any other gunshop in town. I guess they figure they'll get the wives, girlfriends, and people who just go buy it, and they don't care about the business of those of us with good sense and without money to burn. Check out their reloading supplies, too. They are about $10-30 higher per box of bullets than any of the other big name stores (Cabelas, Sportsman's Warehouse, etc.). They're selling a box of Hornady Interbonds (.277 130gr) for $60! I can order that same thing from several sources and get it overnighted for less! I don't really know how they'll stay in it, but I suspect they will, especially since WalMart is getting out of guns altogether, it appears. I wonder if anyone at WalMart has looked back at what Sears did back in the 70's to see about history repeating itself?

I had used an AETEC on a 300 WBY Mark V and worked well. Not too clear though.
