Since people are posting pics of some shooting they have done,well...

The upper right is from a clean barrel. Shot at 100 yards.

The rifle is a .375 RUM using a 260 gr Nosler Partiton,99.0 grs H-4831SC,CCI 250 Mag primer for an average of 2900 fps from a 26" barrel.

Wow! What a danged hammer.

That should hammer just about everything. Very impressive.

That will work..... for anything.
Nice shooting.

I have found the 375 RUM to be very easy to load for and extremely accurate. I have two loads that I use in mine.

The 260 AccuBond and 270 TSX. I've been using H414 in both. They both run in the 2900-3000fps range but the 260 hits about two inches higher at 100 yards.

This is my "brownie" rifle. I originally had a synthetic stock but it crushed in and tab roll over. The rather plain hardwood stock ads a touch of weight but st 8.5 pounds that's not a terrible thing. It was a full pound lighter in the high tech specialties stock. It has backup peep for irons and a 3-9 conquest in QD mounts.

While my 376 Steyr with a 21" barrel is only getting 2632 fps on average, it too shoots nice groups at just over 1/2 MOA. The load under the 260 gr AB is 61.0 gr of H-335 with a F215 primer in Hornady cases.

Love how that 260 AB shoots! Works pretty well on bison and elk too!

The Hornady 270 gr SP with 59.0 gr of H-335 and the F215 primer gets 2507 fps and prints 5/8" groups. This is less than 50 fps behind the 375 Ruger in a 20" barrel.

I am impressed with the efficiency of this Steyr cartridge. Cannot wait to use it in Africa!

Will send a pic of this rifle to DrMike to post, once I get power restored today. (Vicious winds over weekend knocked down a tree and ripped the power and telephone lines off of our house)

That 375 RUM would be a hammer, for sure. Not much in NA (or in Africa, for that matter) that would walk away unscathed when shot with a load from that cartridge. I've had some experience loading for the 375 Ruger. I found it to be easy to work up decent loads. I've often thought about building/buying a 375 Ruger. Doubt that I will since I have my 9.3X64 Brenneke. Nevertheless, I do think about it occasionally.

Just wanted a "lighter" load to use in the RUM for hunting here in NM. Took all of two trips to the range to come up with what is in the above picture.

Thebear_78,my limited experience with the .375 RUM shows it to be very accurate,if one can hang on to it. ;)

My loads are nowhere near being hot,but I can handle the rifle and a few more fps matters naught.

DrMike, actually, that load may be used on Cape eland 2-4 years from now. :)

Ouch to anything that gets in the way of that. How's the recoil from the bench with that one?

Alderman,I'll just say it'll get your attention, shoulder does not hurt or is sore today. The rifle weighs 9-1/2 lbs and has a very good recoil pad, also I use a "sissy" pad when shooting from the bench.

Blkram asked that this picture of his 376 Steyr be posted. It is a fine shooting rifle, to be sure.

Thanks.

And it is a pussycat to shoot off of the bench too. The Limbsaver helps, but the fact that it only burning 61 grains of powder helps a lot too!

I built these to be twins, 300 Rum on top 375 on the bottom. As pictured right at 7 pounds 11 oz for the 300 and the 375 was an ounce less. Otherwise about identical.

My 375 RUM before the stock change. Weighed in right at 6 pounds 4 oz with scope removed, 7 pounds 10 oz with the scope. I originally didn't have the brake on it but it was pretty intense off the bench, especially when the scope was off. The vias helped calm it down quite a bit and the additional pound of the wood stock helped even more!

I've been very impressed with its accuracy and combined with the performance of the 270 TSX on game it is an awesome dangerous game cartridge.
