For John and I are planning another spot & stalk bear hunt for this fall!

In 2010 my son and I both tagged good Washington bears. Just finished up making arrangements to hunt them again! Taking the time off from work, reserved a cabin to stay in. Yeah - I know, it's not camping, but my wife is coming along and she vastly prefers a cabin to a tent anymore. Called up the same young fellow who got us on this great bear a couple of years ago. He knows his bears, and although it's public land, if I'm hunting that area, I'm going to hunt with him.

In 2010 young John used the ancient .30-06 Model of 1917 and I used the .375 H&H Number One. Both of us used handloaded Nosler bullets. Can't see any good reason to change anything for this hunt.

Dang, I am very excited! In 2012 I spent a couple of days "bear hunting" in the local hills, but didn't get real serious about it - hence, no bear! This is different. Setting aside five or six days for hunting, well away from home, too far for problems at work to fetch me back. I think our odds will go way up again. It's a good area for bears, and a good time of year to catch them trying to fatten up on berries.

Good luck fellas. Never got a tag for one...yet

Best of luck to each of you, Guy. That one certainly has an attractive coat.

Hey Guy, good luck on this year's bear hunt:) are you sure that is not a 270win in your son's hands
Just kidding my friend  Lol.

Blessings,

Hey Guy. Are you going to Ouch & Ouch one again?

I imagine there are some restless bears, dreaming of being stung and slammed by you fellows.

A What? A .270? Not unless he's REALLY let the copper fouling build up in that wonderful old .30 caliber barrel!

We're really looking forward to the trip. Even Mama thinks it will be fun.

I might mess around with the loads some. As I recall last time Junior was shooting 165 gr solid base Noslers from the old '06. Am thinking we'll bump him up to Partitions this time, either 165 or 180's. Have plenty of each on hand.

The .375 will likely use that 260 gr Nosler AccuBond again, over RL-15 too. Worked well last time. Easy shooting, accurate and worked well on the 2010 bear.

Different from typical short-range bear hunting scenarios - here I expect shots in the 100 - 400 yard range, though I'll try to get within 300 yards if possible. John's bear was shot at about 150 yards, and mine was at a tad over 300 yards last time.

Guy the 375 Hurt & Hurt will look after anything you go after in
North America
There is a real good thing about the 06  it can
be made into so many more efficient calibers
You know I am just kidding. I always hate to say this but every year I pick up brass that is thrown in the garbage @ the range & 30-06 brass is about 1/3 of what I pick up :) so in this area the 06 is very popular :(

Blessings,
Dan
