So I simplified my life.

What else do you need? (from a practical stand point)---notice I did not say want.

Yes, two distinct concepts NEED and WANT. NEED is a simpler concept, less difficulty and stress, while WANT will consume the fun of any hobby after a while and is relentless in that it never is nor can be satisfied. Coming to the reality of what is needed allows the hunt to be much simpler and less complicated and for sure a lot less expensive.

A few years ago I had the great purge. I always heard a simple life is a happy life. Well, for all the good it did me I should have kept all of them. Don't take long to for them to come back with the internet.

I have been there, many rifles, revolvers, pistols and reloading stuff. Been there, done that, and have learned the secret of really enjoying my hobby, but that is me and it is something everyone has to decided on their own, and it was a lot of fun getting here if I do say so myself. That is why where I find myself today is not boring at all, in fact it is a lot of fun in a special way.

My rifle situation is currently -

Savage Heavy Barrel 17 hmr, burris 3-9x40 ffII
Savage Long Range Hunter 6.5 creedmoor Vortex HS Tactical 5-15X44
Weatherby Vanguard 300 wby mag, Vortex Viper 6.5-20X50
Ruger Hawkeye African 375 ruger, Leupold 1.5-5X

Just picked up a Model 70 Classic Long action...Was planning on building a h&h, but now thinking bout 416 ruger.

Bullet, I am with you, simpler is better sometimes. One thing that is nice is that I have reconciled all of my riflescopes to specific rifles. This is something that I kept messing with every winter during the time that I was adding and subtracting rifles and/or scopes every year or so. Now each rifle has a scope that meets the rifle's purpose, is a good quality optic and I do not have to worry about in terms of failure or reliability.

Plus, I have the field of any hunting and power need that I may ever require covered by at least one caliber and in most case, two or three. I can not see iron sights anymore. So, my son has my .32 WS, Transition Model Model 94 now because he will get use out of it with iron sights. Everything else is bolt action and scoped, except my Model 63, .22LR which is semi auto and scoped.

After getting very sick and going through a divorce that cleaned me out when I was 60 years old. From that I learned, simple is better in many ways. Also during that time, my low class, neighbor's teen aged grandsons cased my apartment and robbed me (at the retirement home) during a home invasion at 2 AM. They stole most of my fly rods and (4) Colt single action revolvers. I attacked one of them and chased them out of the apartment before they got anything else but I never got the guns back.

From all this, I learned that all these possessions is just stuff after all! Stuff that you have to worry about losing, having stolen or being taken away. Having been through losing, selling to pay debts, robbery and divorce, simple has its virtues! I think that simple will hold me until I die. If you don't have it, others can't covet, cheat, steal or take it from you.

Yep, you said a mouth full and I am with you on the scope thing, and simple does have its virtues.
