So... You think your rifle is accurate?

That is some fine shooting. Congratulations to Rodney Wagner. That is beyond enviable.

Man, that's just rookie stuff...

HA, just kidding, great shooting and a very cool 6mm as well..

I need to try and forward that picture to Joel and tell him I shot it this weekend with my 270, off a sand bag, in the rain, with my 4X Leupold.. Poor guy would have a stroke!

Rookie stuff indeed scotty! If he did it offhand I'd be impressed ...

All jokes aside that is unfathomable for me! It is incredible what is possible today with the available hardware and knowledge! Incredible! Absolutely phenomenal shooting!

Come on he only hit the x-ring twice and just nicked them.......lol
that is some impressive shooting, I wish I could do groups like that at 100 yards.

Now that's a real feat shooting something that far away and yet be such a small group. Wish I could do that, mine will hit the target but will never go into a group like that! Although my rifles weigh under 10 pounds and his looks like it weighs as much as my girlfriend! lol

I think the article mentioned his was a 17 pound rifle.

Pretty impressive shooting. When I've been "serious" about my 600 yard shooting, I've produced sub 3" groups with the .308 Win Green Machine... But dang... Under a half inch? At 600 yards?

Wow...

I wish I could get those groups at 100 Yards too.

My best group was .625 at 300 yards off front rest and rear bag! It was with the .30-06 Winchester that I still own.

Those are stupifiyingly great groups at 600 yards.

That's awesome. A 60X scope would give you the same target picture as a 10X at 100 yards so I think it's very plausible. I can put in some awesome 100 yard groups. With that setup it comes down to trigger control.

That is some great shooting :) I wish I could do that. At my age I can't even see that far  .
Just hope a .5 MOA @ 100yds with the rifles I own now. On a good day I can usually get that.

Blessings,
Dan

I believe I have found the trick he uses to get that kind of accuracy! Stiffer barrels are supposed to be more accurate, his must be very stiff to get that kind of performance. I found this while searching through accurate shooter.com I hope he inletted the barrel channel a little 'roomy'...

The part you are forgetting about going from 100 to 600 is what the wind does to the bullet at longer distances. The club I shot at had a match Monday night with 15-20mph winds throughout the evening with swirls over the course of the range. There is a guy at this club that always shoots 200 with at least 10 X's and he actually shot a 9. Last summer he set the national record with 19 X's shooting a 6BRX. I was in the pits pulling his target and was using a golf tee for a spotter. I had to replace 8 golf tees over the course of the 20 round string of fire. Gives me something to keep working on...

Yeah - we started seeing some incredible accuracy at 600 yards about ten years ago when F-Class really got going as an addition to the conventional prone events.

All of a sudden instead of having everyone on the line steadying their rifle with a sling, and most of us using sights... There were guys and gals using fancy rests for their rifles, large scopes, and itty-bitty 6mmBR's and the like.

Game changer. The F-class guys & gals were so accurate, they got their own, more challenging targets. It was too easy for them to clean the regular NRA Highpower targets. And yes, I remember one gal in particular just smashing the spotter, shot after shot, with her 6mmBR rifle. Out of a twenty shot string of fire, she'd put 20 in the bull, maybe 15 in the X-ring and likely a good ten or so would hit the danged spotter, often shattering it.

Remarkable.

This latest world-record group, .3" at 600 yards, is just doggone phenomenal.

I am still pleased when I shoot Three Inches at 600 yards, and have no delusions about being capable of sub half-inch groups out there at 600 yards. Wow... That's just incredible.

Congrats to the shooter!

Guy
